Tottenham are closing in on a deal for Derby goalkeeper Stephen Bywater.
Spurs are in the market for goalkeeping cover after allowing Paul Robinson to leave for Blackburn and with Radek Cerny not winning a new deal at White Hart Lane.
Juande Ramos is keen to bring in an understudy to summer signing Heurelho Gomes and it appears Bywater could be on his way to North London.
Derby boss Paul Jewell has confirmed Tottenham have made a bid for Bywater and that the former West Ham keeper is keen on making the move.
Bywater is well down the pecking order at Pride Park and spent the second half of last season on loan at Ipswich.
Surely at 27 yrs old, a player cannot be seen as an understudy...

Kuzcask is that age and has been an understudy at Manchester United for 2 seasons, I don't see what's wrong with Alnwick because he is a good youth player and has proved at Sunderland he is quite good.
