Manchester City captain Richard Dunne has signed a new four-year deal with the Eastlands club.
The 28-year-old defender was strongly linked with a move away from the club, with Portsmouth declaring an interest.
"My first priority is, was and always has been to stay at City," Dunne told the club website.
"When Mark Hughes got the manager's job I think everyone was pleased. I was thrilled he seemed to make it a priority to sort my contract out."
Hughes added: "I'm delighted with the outcome and Richard is a really important player for us.
I knew he'd sign a new deal with Hughes as new manager.

Good news for City. Their defence will be solid.

Richards and Dunne at the core, you don't get much more solid than that.

Still a shame for them that Distin left though.

Yeah well not really, he didn't want to play for them, a manager doesn't need players who don't want to play for the club.

Yeah I was more referring to the situation of him wanting to leave.

...As in he is a great defender and it was a shame he wanted to leave them, from City's point of view.
Fair play to him though. City may be on the up, but so are Pompey, and he has got himself an FA Cup winners medal.
