Real Madrid president Ramón Calderón has confirmed the signing of Racing Santander defender Ezequiel Garay..

Calderón quickly confirmed the rumours that Madrid had paid out for the young Argentine.
He said, "We paid 10 million euros in cash for Garay - a player on whom we are very keen.
"This also demonstrates, moreover, the good economic standing of our club."
Calderón's comments on the centre-back's future, though, were nothing if not interesting.
"He's a young player who could play this season as next," he explained, stating that he could be loaned back to Racing despite being a Madrid player now.
Going Nowhere
The president also found time to react to rumours that Robinho and Mahamadou Diarrŕ are set to leave the club.
"The only thing that we'll say about Robinho and Diarra is that they're intransferible," insisted Calderón.
When Garay arrives, he must compete for places with the likes of Fabio Cannavaro, Pepe, and Christoph Metzelder.

Barcelona are close to agreeing a deal to take Gerard Pique back to Camp Nou.
The defender left the Primera Division giants as a teenager when he was snapped up by Manchester United.
However, he has struggled to hold down a first-team spot at Old Trafford and would welcome the opportunity of regular football back in his homeland.
Pique impressed during a year-long loan spell at Real Zaragoza in 2006, proving that he is more than capable of meeting the demands of the Spanish top flight.
Barcelona are keen to launch a summer rebuilding programme after ending the 2007/08 season empty handed and see Pique as a long-term option at the heart of their defence.
Bad business on United's behalf.

I like him, but realistically he is not going to get a game ahead of Vidic or Rio. A solid defence is one of the key reasons we have been successful these past two years, and Rio and Vidic are only left out if they are injured, so it was in his best interests to move. He needs first team football at this stage of his career.
We will probably just get Johnny Evans back as cover. If we do succeed in luring Richards, then obviously he can play centre back or right back.

They have Marquez, Milito, Puyol and Thuram.... I doubt it.
Well they are rebuilding. Milito has been bad apparently. Marquez can play in midfield, Thuram is ancient so it is laughable that he would be ahead of Pique in the pecking order.
