Obviously we are all fans of different sports, and most of you guys are into Football (US), Baseball, Hockey, Basketball, Aussie Rules Football or whatever else. However, we are all sport fans, and while the sporting culture may not be the same in every country, we all have at least something in common. I am a huge soccer fan, and I am asking what sport means to you.
For me, it is hard to explain. I have been a Manchester United fan all my life, and how well we are doing effects my whole mood. I can't overstate how important it is to me. It is like a religion, and a lot of soccer fans feel the same way. I don't know if it is the same in America, Canada or Australia with your national sports, but I am a hugely passionate fan and wear my colours with pride. Sport is a release from everyday life, but it is also more important than that to me. It is not just entertainment, it is a way of life.
Does sport mean this much to you, or is it primarily just entertainment?

To me, sports is like war. I'm very passionate about hockey, and I cheer for one team in the NHL, and one team only, the Toronto Maple Leafs. If they lose, I get very pissed and you can hardly talk to me... so when it comes to the Leafs, you can't talk to me often. Of course I watch them for the entertainment, but every game I expect them to win. It just means that much to me. Hockey is my religion.
I feel the same way, exactly. But not with Soccer, with Basketball. I am a die hard Celtics fan and have been pretty much my entire life. And like you said, the way the team does effects my whole mood. If they were to lose, the next day in school I am not happy at all. I don't know why but Basketball is a religion for me. I mean, everytime there is a game, I am watching. I might not be the most knowledgeable but I love watching the sport. I can't explain why this is, but it just is.

I get really competitive when it comes to sports, but most people do also. Sports are good for exercise and it can be used to socialize with friends. When you're not playing a sport for your school, it's nice to have a pick up game with your friends or go shoot some hoops.

I forgot about playing sports. Like I said, while watching sports I consider it like war, but when I'm playing sports with my favourites or an organized league around the city, it's mostly just for fun. Of course I try to win. But, if I lose, I wouldn't become as angry as I would if the Leafs lost. It's weird, I know.
That's how I am with my Buccaneers. When they win, it's a damn good day.
When they lose, the day sucks because I have it in my head they did sucky and that just affects my mood.
I can only imagine how Patriots fans felt all season and how angry they were when they choked in the Super Bowl To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Yes, I have a GIF of two women kissing.
Yes, it's hot. Yes it's Megan Fox kissing another woman from Jennifer's Body. Yes, it's hot... owait, I already said that. Yes, I'm aware this makes me sound like a total lesbian. But this scene? UNF.
I too am an avid fan of Man United, and have been all of my life. That said, I can't really say their matches mean so much to me, sure I'll be cheering for them and it's a nice feeling for them to win, and if they loose I'll be gutted as the next guy, but it doesn't really affect my mood. It's not like a loss will make me spend the rest of the day being all grumpy, at the end of a day a game is a game, you can't win everything, that goes for me playing as well.
