| Ok.. So Marino scored an average score and became one of the better QBs ever and was regarded as one of the smartest QBs as well. Test = Bullshit. | |||||||||||||||

| Well, it's not the be all and end all. Just like how some guys run slow 40 times and still end up being good (Anquan Boldin dropped out of the first round because of a poor 40 time, for example). I would still rather take a smart QB than a stupid one, all other things being equal. And I emphasize "all other things being equal". Some guys are just ridiculous athletes. Dan Marino had an absolute cannon for an arm, so he could make up for being a little dumb by being so athletic. Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, by contrast, don't have the mobility of Young or Vick, or arms like Marino, but they're considered two of the smarter guys in the league, and they used their smarts to their advantage. By the way, Eli scored a 39 ![]() | |||||||||||||||

| By the way, I found a website with the scores of a bunch of QBs. I figured I would just take guys who start now. Favre - 22 Brunell - 22 Bledsoe - 37 Dilfer - 22 McNair - 15 Collins - 30 Hasselbeck - 29 McNabb - 16 Aaron Brooks - 17 Culpepper - 21 Pennington - 25 Bulger - 29 Brady - 33 Vick - 20 Brees - 28 Carr - 24 Harrington - 32 McCown - 30 Simms - 22 Leftwich - 25 Palmer - 26 Boller - 27 Grossman - 29 Roethlisberger - 25 Losman - 31 Eli - 39 Alex Smith - 40 Peyton - 38 The only guys who started last year (or would have started were it not for injuries) that I couldnt find were Trent Green, Gus Frerotte, and Jake Delhomme. Of those that I listed above, all but 4 were above the national average of 21, and all but 3 were above the NFL average of 18. Sure, some of the high scorers may not be great NFL QBs (Harrington, for example), but the general trend seems to suggest that you need at least slightly above average intelligence to start at the NFL level | |||||||||||||||

| I still think this test is being blown way out of proportion. Looking at that list, Brett Favre, Donovan McNabb, Steve McNair, Daunte Culpepper and Mark Brunell have all done well in spite of a poor score (not to mention Dan f'n Marino). | |||||||||||||||

| Thank you Freak. That's all the information I needed when I saw Marino score that low. I think that should have been end of discussion on this issue. Smart QB's aren't always great and stupid ones don't always suck. I remember hearing how smart Chad Pennington was, but he's proven to be pretty average at the position. | |||||||||||||||

| Chad Pennington is a great quarterback. If he can get healthy again and avoid injuries he will be one of the best ever. | |||||||||||||||
