That's a lot of free agents. Who do you think they are resigning. Who do you think they are letting go etc?
BOSTON – Boston Red Sox manager Terry Francona will be heading for surgery this offseason.
Francona said Tuesday that he's had a back problem and hasn't had full feeling in his arms since May. He hopes to get that fixed this winter so he can be ready for spring training.
Francona isn't the only member of the Red Sox who needs to recuperate. Third baseman Mike Lowell had surgery Monday; pitcher Curt Schilling is looking toward a midseason comeback; and David Ortiz needs to rest his left wrist.

Well..I here they want to make a run at Texiera, but then they are stuck with an odd man out, wither Lowell or Youk. As much as I love Lowell, he is getting old and itd be nice if they could move him...but his age might discourage GMs from accepting Mike. I just dont want to lose Youkie..
Outside of that, I believe we need another starter (Peavy would be nice) and I also see them re-signing Tek (as much as he sucks offensively).

I think the bolded players are def keepers. I know I left alot of the pitchers off the list..and im sure they will resign some of them, maybe Byrd and Bucholtz, but I cant see Wake and Tim coming back. Although Ive said that in the past.

BOSTON -- Tim Wakefield's $4 million option for 2009 was exercised by the Boston Red Sox.
The 42-year-old knuckleballer was 10-11 with a 4.13 ERA in 30 starts this year, his 14th season with Boston. He is second in club history with 1,797 strikeouts and has 164 wins for Boston, 28 behind Roger Clemens and Cy Young, who share the team lead with 192.
Wakefield struggled in the fourth game of the AL championship series when Tampa Bay went ahead three games to one with a 13-4 victory. In 2 2/3 innings, Wakefield allowed three homers and five runs. He also pitched poorly in two of his last five regular-season starts, giving up a total of 13 runs in four innings in those two games.
He is working under a contract that gives the team the option to renew it on an annual basis at $4 million.
Wakefield hasn't really been worth a damn lately, so why is he still in Boston?

We should really have a MLB Off Season thread, Nubs like Wakefield and co don't deserve there own thread IMO, Considering the majority of baseball fans probably could care less.
