I say there is NO WAY the Red Sox are wishing they had Manny back.
They were just proven right that he was dogging it here and he would have continued to dog it if he stayed.
He isn't really spoken in a ill manner either though. People are just kinda disappointed, but certainly not suprised, that he wasn't giving 100%. He said some kinda messed up stuff about Boston fans last week too and people still didn't lash back.
He really doesn't know how good he had it here. The last people he should have said something about was the fans that gave him standing O's and Manny chants night in and out for 7 straight years.
Couple things.. and you can correct me if I'm wrong seeing how you're closer to the situation..
1. I heard WEEI was ripping on Manny just the other day.
2. I thought I remember seeing Manny, after being traded, give a heartfelt speech about how he loved the Boston fans.
3. I don't really think Manny would have dogged it much longer. He was whining and I don't condone it (even if the ownership was a little unfair to him as well), but if they had kept him and he saw there was zero possibility of being moved, he would have had to perform or risk losing out on a HUGE contract next year.
By the way, I really do like Jason Bay. He's a real solid player and I think he'll continue to put up good numbers in Boston. But he's not Manny.
