FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WSAZ) With his wife and two sons at his side, former Marshall wide receiver Troy Brown retired after 15 seasons with the NFL New England Patriots.
Brown, who hasn't played this year, made the announcement Thursday morning during a press conference attended by team owner Robert Kraft and coach Bill Belichick.
Its been a wonderful ride, Brown said. Its been a part of my life since the second grade.
Brown spent his entire NFL career with the Patriots after they drafted him in the eighth round in 1993 out of Marshall. His 557 catches are first in team history and his 6,366 yards receiving are second to Stanley Morgan's 10,352. Brown played in one Pro Bowl, after the 2001 season.
He also played defensive back late in his career. In 2007, he
played in one game.
Brown earned three Super Bowl rings with the Patriots.
It was time for him to retire but still sad to see him go.
One of the best players to ever play at Marshall University.

He should be an all time favorite of any true Pats fans IMO. Dude gave his heart and soul to this organization and hopefully the team rewards him by retiring number 80.
