Patriots vs. Barry Bonds

Bonds cheated so his performance wouldn't decline, which affected baseball games but also records. Patriots cheated which affected the games they played and also records.

We don't know for sure how much the juice helped Bonds, we don't know for sure how much the spying helped the Patriots.

But answer me this.. What's the difference between the two? Why are the Patriots and Belichick let completely off the hook on this and still respected as one of the great teams of all-time.. but Bonds isn't respected as one of the best hitters ever?

I beg to differ on how people feel about the pats. Outside of New England mostly everyone hates them.

And on ESPN they aren't going to down the Pats, and get on the NFLs bad side. There's too much money riding on it. They have to pretend to love the Pats...

Well.. I agree with that point. When Bonds was chasing Aaron, ESPN didn't say two shits about his alleged steroid involvement, but after they milked him for everything they could.. you don't hear a peep about the man.

The double standards are sickening though. Do I think the Pats would have still won all those Super Bowls? Sure. I can almost guarantee they would have.. but I also believe Barry Bonds is the best player of the last 20 years and should be treated as such.

Bonds should have just admitted to it. America is a very forgiving country.

Giambi at least tried to apologize, and honestly no one seems to really care anymore.

The biggest issue with Bonds is his asshole personality. Guy seems like such a douche.

Yeah.. I just don't get it. Maybe it's because of all the media coverage these days.. I've heard plenty of horrible stories about Ted Williams and Mickey Mantle but they are treated as untouchable, legendary figures.

Ted Williams left baseball for 3 years to fight in the war. He was a huge fighter pilot, then came back and still was a legendary player.

Imagine any guy going to Iraq for 3 years, then coming back to baseball and being the same player they were before.

No, I meant his personality. He supposedly spit on fans, wasn't very outgoing, wasn't overly friendly.. a lot of things. I certainly wouldn't discount anything he did on the field.

Steroids are illegal, Cameras in certain positions are against NFL rules. I don't think Belichick is going to jail for that anytime soon.

When you are 65 years old, you will tell a much different story about the Steroid era and the stud players of its time. You just will. People only remember the good. The bad gets washed away over time.
