| Re: An interesting baseball stat I recently heard Ortiz stands very close to the plate too. But, like I said, if Boston pitchers want to keep putting Yankees on base because they want to prove that they have gigantic balls or because they dont like Jeter or A-Rod, that's fine with me. btw, this just popped into my mind. I actually distinctly remember Pedro giving up a RBI triple in 2004 to the Yankees, and then hitting Jeter with the next pitch, but this didnt garner a suspension. Yet, Farnsworth not hitting Manny got him three games? And I'll ignore the fact that not having Farnsworth on the team is probably better for the Yankees... Also, can you PLEASE explain the A-Rod-Boston hate to me? It makes no sense whatsoever. He offered to take a paycut to come to the Red Sox. Let me repeat: He offered to take a paycut to come to the Red Sox. But yet, ever since he was traded to the Yankees, Boston fans have treated him like he is the anti-Christ. I just don't get it | |||||||||||||||

Let's hug it out bitch.
| Re: An interesting baseball stat I recently heard To sum up the hate for A-Rod in the city of Boston? I can do that for you fairly easily I think. I think for most Red Sox fans its a combination of things. Keep in mind that there are just as many idiot pink hat dumbass Red Sox fans as their are extremely knowledgable, intelligent and impartial Red Sox fans. So take it all with a grain of salt. Also, this is NOT my feelings, but just what I have gathered from listening to sports radio for some 8 hours a day (yes, I really do listen to that much sports radio every single day) 1. Trade talks heat up with the Rangers and Red Sox in the 2003 off season.... Manny was said to be the main focus of that deal as well as some prospects. Manny could slap Jesus in the face in Boston and get cheered. Manny is probably one of the most beloved Red Sox players of all times. So people were put off that Manny would have to go to get A-Rod. 2. People hate how much A-Rod got paid. Yes, those same people have a problem with how much Manny gets paid too, but A-Rod's salary was just too much. 3. When trade talks break down he went to the one team we didnt want him going to, the team that broke our little Boston hearts just a couple months prior when Aaron Fucking Boone hit that homerun off Wakefield. I never hated the Yankees more than I did in 2003. 4. When he got in the fight with Tek. 5. When he slapped the ball out of Arroyos hand. 6. When his wife wears a "Fuck you" t-shirt to the game. 7. When he cheats on his wife with whores in broad daylight. 8. and most importantly, and the biggest reason.....Flat out jealousy. We KNOW how good he is. For the record as well. Derek Jeter is highly respected in Boston. The 90's Yankees were respected. Too bad they were all on the gas. HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA. Sorry had to get that in there. It should also be noted that Boston fans probably hate J.D. Drew and Julio Lugo more than A-Rod. We never eat our own either, so you know its bad. WHO THE FUCK PAYS 14 MILLION A YEAR OVER 5 YEARS FOR A ALWAYS INJURED RIGHT FIELDER WITH NO HEART ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!??! | |

| Re: An interesting baseball stat I recently heard Ah...the Manny thing was a factor I never considered. It's probably appropriate that you made that reason number one. You know, the Drew signing I expected to be a bad one, but I thought Lugo was a quality player when they signed him. Not a stud, obviously, but the type of guy who could play solid defense and not be a total shitbag with the bat. Instead, he batted .234/.294/.349, in a hitter's park. His career averages are .272/.334/.394 Also, according to baseball prospectus's fielding metrics (which should be taken with a grain of salt, like all fielding stats) he was a below-average fielder last year. Looks like he's hitting better this year though...BP's preseason projection for Lugo was .272/.336/.384, which is not great, but obviously more respectable than last year's performance | |||||||||||||||

| Re: An interesting baseball stat I recently heard Lugo is by far the worst hitter in that lineup. He's fucking awful. Every time Boston has a rally going, he comes up and hits into a double play. Ellsbury and Pedroia are total pests.. what a perfect top of the order. Lowrie looks promising as well. I think a big problem Boston fans have with A-Rod is how dishonest he appears to be. He's said a hundred times, he always wanted to play for New York, there aren't better fans in the world, he's never wanted to leave, etc.. and everyone knows its bullshit and he'd be saying the same thing if he had landed in Boston. A-Rod doesn't know loyalty. | |||||||||||||||

| Re: An interesting baseball stat I recently heard wow, I just looked up Lugo's numbers, he's already hit into 5 double plays. His career high is 9, and his 162-game average is only 10! It's probably just one of those fluky things. I mean, he's not going to ground into 40 double plays, which is the pace he's on. and yes, he's the worst hitter on the team, but it's not a problem when the rest of the offense is so good. Also, if you get a .270 batting average, a .335 OBP, and 20-30 steals from your worst hitter, that's really not that bad... | |||||||||||||||
