Inquiry.

Ok... I was having this argument on another forum and I thought I'd bring it here.... who played on the best team?

Magic with the Lakers
Bird with the Celtics
Jordan with the Bulls

Obviously the Bulls won 6 titles with Jordan but I always kinda felt aside from the overrated Pippen and Rodman who was pretty good the rest of his teams just look lackluster. I don't really remember much about Bird or Magic so hopefully someone can fill me on their greatness.

Re: Inquiry.

Bird played with McHale and Parrish, who were both awesome, Dennis Johnson, who was a great player, and a season or two with Bill Walton.

Magic played with James Worthy and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who were both awesome.

Of the three, MJ had the worst supporting cast around him, in my opinion

Re: Inquiry.

I'm not sure why you think Pipper is overrated though. Sure he wasn't a team leader, but he was still a 20-point scorer, elite passer, and most of all, a tremendous defender. In the series against the Lakers he gave Magic Johnson fits.

To answer the question, I think the Celtics were probably the best team.

I went to many many many many Bulls games as a kid. Both at Chicago Stadium and the United Center. Maybe it was just the games I was at. Pippen NEVER impressed me. It seemed like Jordan and other people created his offensive production. Plus I don't know about his defense it just never looked crisp to me. Again I was young so I may be harsh but I always wrote on the stat sheets what I thought of each player. My Father always told me to look at defense first even and I just can never remember watching Pippen play live and saying "That's an elite defender" I reserve the right to back on my judgment if I could find some videos of him. That and when Jordan first retired it seemed like Pippen couldn't do it anymore. He just didn't have that drive you saw.

Either way as I said from everything I've gathered over the years and not going back and looking at it now that's how I remember it and have it written down.

Uh, correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't Pippen's best individual seasons the few years after Jordan's first retirement?

Re: Inquiry.

I guess the knock on Pippen has always been how he supposedly sulked on the bench during a game in the playoffs against the Knicks where Kukoc hit the game winner. This was the year after Jordan retired.

The thing that amazes me about that season is how the Bulls still won 55 games and while they lost to the Knicks, they still took them through 7 grueling games.

Another oversight is Pippen's time in Portland. In the 1999-00 season, Portland finished with 59 wins and took the Lakers to 7 games in the Western conference finals. In game 7, the Blazers blew a huge lead in the final minutes. the Lakers would go on to win the championship, but Pippen was an integral part of that Blazers squad.

Statistically I believe so. I'm talking about watching a guy on the court playing though. >.>
