The team with the best regular season record and the team getting overlooked: Detroit Red Wings.

Hopefully they can get past their 1st round curse they have had in the past. They looked pretty decent last night, having 40 SOG compared to Nashville's 20. They have to keep the Predators shut down and convert power plays as well.

I would love to see the Avs win it...but that's just because then I'd have a chance of seeing the cup for a few days because our neighbour's son plays for the Avs (Tyler Arnason) and we look after his house in the winter.

But from a non friend view...go Penguins!

Since the Canucks are done, I'm having trouble getting into the Western Conference playoffs at all, simply because I can't possibly root for any of its teams. I guess the least I can do is root against the teams I hate most -- ie. Calgary -- but then I end up going for the Sharks, who just destroyed Vancouver all year.

The East is a different story. Tere's a bunch of teams I love in the East -- Montreal, Pittsburgh, Washington, even Ottawa and Boston I could see myself rooting for in the finals. Actually, I'm pretty sure whatever happens I'll be rooting for the Eastern team in the SCF, unless it's Philadelphia.

My prediction: San Jose over Pittsburgh in 6

You know Jayman I was actually wondering myself why Detroit has been getting the shaft when it comes to most predictions. I know from my end it's because I despise all things Detroit(I'm from Chicago). But they did have the best record and is probably one of the best teams because of that. Are they being given the Phoenix treatment where they choke in the playoffs? (I follow college hockey mostly so >.>)

Detroit tailed off in the second half of the season after starting out at a record pace. They're also battling injuries, and there are questions about whether their ancient goaltenders can hold up to the rigors of a long playoff run. Finally, they're not a physical team at all, and a common feeling around the league is that if they went up against an Anaheim or San Jose, they'd get bullied into a corner.

I said San Jose over New York in the finals before the playoffs started but Pittsburgh is look really good thus far.

From what I have seen the games have been awesome so far but a blackout Wednesday night and exam Friday night have prevented me from watching as much as I would have liked.

Doesn't it seem like every team in the NHL was between 40 and 47 wins? It doesn't look like there's much that separates most of these teams, so I guess you have to look for a hot goalie or a superstar that can takeover a series.

The Penguins are my team since the days of Super Mario and Jagr, and that's obviously who I'll be rooting for, Crosby, Hossa, Malkin.. They're up 2-0 on the Senators, it looks like that series is over.

I have no idea how good the Canadiens are.
