I don't like Sean Avery but I don't see a problem with what he did. Well I did see one problem and that was without paying attention to the puck he could have got in the way of his own teams shots. But no problem with how he was trying to distract Brodeur.

Avery is a douche for sure but seriously anyone who doesn't think theres nothing wrong with what Avery did. It might not have been in rule book but how many times have you ever seen it done? In little leauge, minors, majors or junior/olympics? Its a unwritten rule that you don't do that kind of stuff to maintain the respect of the game because seriously screening a goalie without even facing the play is so from doing that. if your going to screen do it the text book way and at least do it the legal way and face the play waiting for a tip. What he was doing is glorified face guarding.

Hahaha, look at you. You're right though.

Look at the following picture; in my mind, no one in the NHL does a better job in front than Tomas Holmstrom. A case could be made for Ryan Smyth, who's probably better at deflecting the puck, but Holmstrom's form is impeccable -- skates an inch out of the blue, ass in the goalie's face. And Preds fans were calling for a penalty after this goal:

He's doing something that's cheap but legal. No one is debating that it isn't cheap. But it's just another way around the rules. I thought he was rather inventive with the way he distracted Brodeur.

Fouling to win a game has been done for years so I don't think its the same, No body has ever went this far to screen a goalie, and for good reason no one will ever again.

No you're right, it was legal, but only because no one's been a big enough douchebag to even consider something like that. It's also probably "legal" to piss in your hand and splash it in a goalie's face, but Sean Avery hasn't thought of that yet.

I really wish Avery had tried that in a regular season game, because IRALB is right -- Brodeur would have made him pay for it.
