I still cant get over how long its been since a canadian team has won a stanley cup.

And I'm pretty much convinced that the NHL needs to try and do a outdoor hockey game atleast once a year. Infact I still think it would be the coolest thing if they would get the Rangers playing in the big rink in Rockefeller centre with the big tree in the back ground and what not.

That outdoor game earlier this year was brilliant. On a side note, are you guys scared yet? Crosby, Malkin, and Hossa are killing kids!

With their shaky defense, the Pens can only go as far as Fleury (who's on an unbelievable run right now) will take them.

I'm obviously upset as a Canucks fan right now (they were eliminated from contention last night), but Spin, you're flat-out dreaming if you think the Flames have a shot at even making noise in the playoffs.

Also, I've seen way better golf logos for both the Oilers and Canucks.

Freak, How good do you think Crosby is right now? I know he's still growing and I haven't gotten to see nearly as much as I want to.. but do you think he's capable of taking over the playoffs?

On his own, when healthy, he's capable of taking over any game -- but with Malkin centering the second line, and considering Malkin was the best centreman in the league this season, it's a bit harder for Sid to stand out like that.

Which of course I don't think he'd complain about.

The young talent in today's NHL is seriously incredible to watch -- Ovechkin is obviously the story of the year, but the number of guys in their early 20s (and younger) who are leading their teams is something I haven't seen in hockey since I began watching in the early 1990s.

Ovechkin is disgusting right now. 64 goals and counting.. I'd like to see Washington in the playoffs just to watch him..

65 actually, but yeah. Since Vancouver basically packed it in a few weeks ago, I've been cheering hard for the Capitals to make it -- a Caps/Pens first-round series would be fucking mindblowing.

I don't know how good the Red Wings are, I admit.. I haven't payed much attention to them besides the box scores and the standings, but this appears to be the most wide open NHL season I've seen in a while. I'm not sure if there's going to be a definite 1st round match-up that couldn't go either way..

Heard that in 03-04 as well. The only sure way a team won't make noise in the playoffs is if they are off golfing or buying diapers for their new baby

And with players like Iginla, Kipper, Phaneuf, Regehr, Tanguay, Juice and Langkow the Flames are more than capable of going all the way because they have the mixture of talent across the board that you need to win the cup. Unlike teams like the Sens and Pens that are screwed if their scoring is halted.
