Is anyone going to watch this game? I haven't watched too many of the bowl games but I feel if you love sports, you have to tune in to this. If I remember correctly, USC has won 34 games in a row and Texas like 19 or 20.
I think USC will win, too much fire power and too sophisticated. If they stop Voung, Texas has no shot. Will they stop Young? Probably not, but I doubt he'll go crazy like he did last year vs. Michigan.
First of all, how about that Orange Bowl? What a game!
Anyway, I will definately be watching this, and I can't really see any scenario that has Texas winning.
USC can basically beat you three ways: Leinart and the passing game, Bush and the speed running game, and Lendale White and the power running game. I think to beat USC you somehow have to stop at least two of those three people. With the amount of time Pete Carrol has had to prepare for this game, I don't see how that can happen.
I hope I'm wrong, but in my gut I feel like this won't be a great game, and that 'SC will win this by 2-3 touchdowns.
I agree. 42-28 USC, is my prediction but I wouldn't be surprised if USC put up over 50.
The only problem with USC is the defense. It's certainly not great, not even good.. Notre Dame lit them up, hell even Fresno lit them up. I could see Texas scoring a lot of points but in a shootout, you have to go with USC..
There'll be no sorrow there, no more burdens to bear,
No more sickness, no more pain, no more parting over there;
And forever I will be with the One who died for me,
What a day, glorious day that will be.
SC's defense isn't great, but it's still very good. They just dominated a high-powered UCLA offense in their last game.
College statistics are very misleading. On paper, it looks like SC has a really bad pass defense, but that's because all year long they blew people out early so their opponents had to abandon the running game. They should be fine against the relatively one-dimensional Texas offense.
I think it will be a shoot-out, but USC will win by a comfortable margin. My prediction: USC 49 - Texas 35
