So, reading stuff about the Super Bowl, I've repeatedly heard people say "Nobody ever remembers who loses the Super Bowl"

Are you fucking kidding me? EVERYBODY remembers the losers of the Super Bowl. Everybody knows who the Bears stomped in 85, or the Bills losing 4 in a row. It's one of those stupid cliches that people say to try to sound witty, BUT IT'S NOT TRUE!!!

And to prove it, right now I'm going to see how far back I can go, naming just the losers of the Super Bowl. I'll leave some space in case anybody wants to skip past it and try on their own...

So yeah, I was able to name the losers of the last 18 Super Bowls, and then 3 of the next 7. I also know that the Benglas lost one of the ones between the Bills and Broncos, and somewhere along the way there the Broncos lost another one.

So yeah. People remember the loser of the Super Bowl

I always found that cliche quite funny. I never understood it. Although my favorite thing to do as a kid, considering I've always loved sports, since everyone knew the first two(Packers) and the third was the guarantee(Jets) I always asked who won Super Bowl 4? Up until 7th grade only person ever got it right.

You may remember the team but not individual players, for instance, everyone remembers trent dilfer won a superbowl, but who was the quaterback of the falcons the year they lost, all I remember from that team is jamal anderson, and ray bucchannon(sp)

I don't know Tom, I think the argument is more that nobody ever talks about those Super Bowl-losing teams... I mean, obviously the loser Bills are still a remarkable story, and there's no doubt this year's Pats will be long remembered.

But look at the losing teams for the last five years -- Raiders, Panthers, Eagles, Seahawks, Bears. None of those teams is still any kind of story at all, except maybe the whole TO-McNabb thing with the Eagles. But really, how often do you hear about the 2004 Panthers?

Super Bowls 23 and 24 were won by my Niners. In the latter, they destroyed the Broncos 55-10, against the Bengals, Montana lead the game-winning drive which was capped off by a touchdown pass to John Taylor with seconds remaining. If I wasn't a Niner fan would I know that? probably. So I agree.. I do remember the losers of most of the Super Bowls, especially the classic games. For instance, everyone remembers the Titans being one yard short against the Rams.
