Nfl Sucks

ok everyone listen up i want good discussion here

now i am a fan of nfl i follow it not super closely but i know it pretty well i know the good teams, good players, i understand the game, but...i dont like the game i love footbal but not the nfl version of it

i am from canada and from saskatchewan now those who know anything about sask you know we are the most diehard fans anywhere, we cheer for our riders like no other team, and my dad is really into football
now i played 5 years of cfl style football and compared to the nfl style of play its much better
k heres why i believe so
we have a longer field makes: more field for offense to work with , but also more field for offense to travel, defense has more field to cover but also more room for them to break
wider field: this creates for a better running game bc you have more room on the outside to work with
bigger ball: makes it harder for the quarterbacks to throw it so you need to have a real arm to throw a ball like that
12 guys on the field: this creates a lot more possibility with plays
3 downs: i love this rule some hate it but i love it, nfl you only need 2.5 yards a down to get a first down, you need about a yard more in the cfl may nto sound like much but a yard in footbal is lots
i could keep going but ill leave you guys to talk about this

C'mon man, the NFL has all of the top football talent. CFL guys get promoted to the NFL. Hell, Casey Printers was the MVP of the CFL, and he's a second or third string QB for the Kansas City Chiefs now. Whether or not you like the different rules, I think you'd be hard pressed to admit that the CFL overall is better than the NFL if for no other reason than the amount of talent each has.

they go to the nfl because the money is better pmbr back in the 70's and 80's the cfl was the top league they had a lot of the better players, but when the nfl got a huge tv deal all the players went down there, and look at williams star back in the states when he wasnt hurt he played pretty bad, the cfl is a lot faster of a game, its not waiting 30 seconds between each play for teh ball to be snapped
nfl running backs and receivers and db's woudltn be able to handle the cfl, the linemen/linebackers and qb's work in both leagues, and as for casey printers man hes such a whiner no team would want him as a top guy he always needs to get his way

Ricky Williams? The man who got maybe 9 carries a game in the CFL with an awful offence that refused to use him? I'm quite happy he didn't roll over the league like people thought he would, but it wasn't because of talent. It was from Kent Austin and Toronto being freaking clueless.

and ya I tied to give the CFL a chance but 3 downs just isn't enough offence and kills the flow in my NFL biased mind. I don't care if they have "bigger" plays or not. And it was summed up well with minor leagues with different rules. Just because it's the best game in town, doesn't make it the best game. There are lots of small US towns that the only game in town is the AAA team or college team and they support the hell out of them as much or even more than any CFL only city.

...the argos (ricky's) had a terrible offense bc the cfl's best qb ever broke his finger, we have a lot of big plays, like in the nfl they only do shotgun in 3 and long, cfl almost everything is from shotgun, ive seen saskatchewan play an entire game from shotgun, the game is much faster, edmonton goes for a 50 yard pass almost every 3 or 4 plays and they make most of them, anthony cavillo has passed for 6000 yards in like 3 of the last 4 seasons like you tell me he cant make it in the nfl with those stats hes chosen to stay in the cfl, im not saying bc our fans pwn that the cfl is better im just saying the rules are much better

like come on fair catch man thats just saying i dont want to get hit this play, cfl its 5 yards on every punt or a penalty so every single punt is returned unless kicked out of bounds, that gives guys like corey holmes a chance to score every time

There are definitely some CFL fans who like it for what it is, but realize it's not the best, like Sawaryn does. Others like this guy lives in Saskatchewan and well, what else are ya gonna do there? I'm not the insult type, but really, the post is just bad. It's fine to not like the NFL. I don't care if you think it's inferior. Just don't come in here with things like saying the CFL was ever better talent wise because it's not even close. Just because Moon, Flutie and Garcia made a few Pro Bowls doesn't mean the CFL is close to the same level. It just means those three as players used the CFL to better their games, which is why it's a MINOR LEAGUE used to develop talent. For some it's their career, which is great. I think it's awesome that there's other avenues to play pro football in with the AFL and NFL Europe being the others.

But please spare me the "CFL is better than the NFL because..." garbage because it's just wrong.

It would be like me saying the OHL is better than the NHL because an OHL team is in my city (London, ONT) and I have more access to it. It's not better. I enjoy it, but it's not better. There's a difference. And I'm not usually the type to say an opinion is wrong. In this case you are wrong. Way wrong.

In closing, thanks for the comedy. I needed the laugh. What's sad is that half of my fellow Canadians probably are of this similar opinion. People are so misinformed up here. It's nuts. At least the NFL coverage is getting better in this country.

the cfl is more accesible to me but if i want i can go to almost any minnesota viking home game i want
now what you must understand is the reason the cfl is devolopmental now is bc the nfl has more money to offer their players like honestly who wouldnt want 1 million american to sit on the bench as a backup qb, back in the day the cfl had all the top players that was until abc (i think) made monday night football, then all the other stations needed to do the same and bam huge nfl coverage huge money for the nfl, cfl woudlnt compete with that
honeslty i prefer cfl rules its my opinion, i think the nfl field width is way too small doesnt allow backs to get outside because once they get outside its not that hard to push them out
i just wish the nfl would make the field wider and increase the ball size, like to throw that tiny ball 80 yards isnt that tough

but meh lets agree to disagree, ill watch both for different reasons, also one more thing the nfl should make it a 30 second time clock, you dont need 40 seconds to call a play

The NFL is what it is and the CFL is what it is. AS to you thinking that the CFL is better in rules is completely your own opinion. You say there is a lot more than can be done offensively, well what about the defense? I like the NFL more for every same exact rule that you posted. You can't say there is more stratedy when there is more room, to me you have to have a better strategy when there is less room to work with. And as for the CFL players being better, they an't hold a candle to NFL players. You say it is all about $ and that is not the case. If so why is Winters merely a back up and not a starter? Green is so so and I hate the Chiefs with a passion, but I'll be the first to admit that Green is better than any QB in the CFL and he is about mid way up the rankings in the NFL. Being promoted to the NFL is just that, a promotion, not a lateral move. There is a reason that the NFL has media coverage un paralleled, it is more liked by the majority of the people. The NFL has been around much longer, it emulates it's style from the collegiate foundation of the actual sport. The CFL takes the concept and then makes a few changes here and there and all of a sudden it's supposed to be better? The reason the NFL is better in the opinion of most is that the NFL is true to the origins of the sport and it has not changed all that much over the years. The NFL has a better fan base, better players, better teams, and in general is just better. And as for the time clock goes, it may have something to do with that in depth strategy that the NFL has... and for the record... Ricky Williams is a joke... if you really want to make an argument I wouldn't use on of the most overated RB's in the NFL in ecent memory to do it. His stats are mediocre... he just has a weird streak to him that draws attention.

griff....that was a great post but...the cfl has been around for over 90 years...yea....i know its just opinion and the title of the thread doesnt actually show my opinion on it, i just like the wider field and less downs, its how i was raised

I like the faster play of the CFL. That's all though.
