Philip Rivers' anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee is “totally gone” and he will have reconstructive surgery soon. The recovery time for the surgery is not known but Rivers said he definitely will be 100 percent by the start of next season.

Meanwhile, Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson said his sprained MCL will not require surgery. About four weeks rest should be enough to heal the injury that kept him out of all but the first two offensive series of Sunday's AFC Championship Game.

Rivers played the entirety of the Chargers' 21-12 loss to the New England Patriots with a right knee with no ACL. He revealed Monday he had arthroscopic surgery last Monday to clean out loose cartilage and enable him to play.

The San Diego Union-Tribune first reported Friday that Rivers had injured his ACL, but the extent of the injury was not known until today.
Until Sunday night, Rivers and the team said his injury was just a sprained MCL.
Damn, Rivers is a trooper I didn't even think for a second his ACL was that messed up the way he was moving on that thing during the game. I think hes earned the right to be a little firey in my eyes now.

Jesus, that's pretty crazy. I've been very critical of Rivers at times, but I have to give credit where its due...dude is tough.

lol.. He looks like a super villain in the midst of plotting his next scheme. I'd love to have him as my QB. He talks too much, but he's definitely a competitor and played very well down the stretch.

Yeah, I think theres a chance he probably could have screwed up his knees some but on I think its just very very very painful more then anything. He also had surgery the day after the Indy game on the knee to clean out damaged cartilage according to ESPN, Im not sure that helped the pain any lol

I really like rivers a lot. And ya he talks a lot, but I heard any never uses a cus word or anything and its just the way he is. He gets fired up and it doesnt have to be a bad thing. And he is tough as nails. Whats with LT just sitting out? Good for rivers.

If he was injured, he was injured.. but it's not the injury of Tomlinson that bothers me as much as his sulking on the sidelines, not getting involved and cheering on his team. It looked really bad.

Maybe add an overcoat and a Dark tinted vistor to it >.>

and yeah Tomlinson needed to put that team on his shoulders on the sidelines and help Rivers out, Its so counteractive to just sulk.
