Pats' year of perfection capped by thrilling comeback win over Giants

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- With one mighty heave, Tom Brady and Randy Moss took care of the record books. Now it's down to business for the unbeaten New England Patriots: stamping themselves as the greatest team in NFL history.

The Patriots completed a perfect if somewhat joyless journey through the regular season Saturday night, finishing with a remarkable 16-0 record following a thrilling 38-35 comeback victory over the New York Giants.

New England became the first NFL team since the 1972 Dolphins to win every game on the schedule, and that one was only 14-0. This victory required a comeback from a 12-point deficit engineered by the brilliant Brady, and smashed the Patriots' league mark for consecutive victories.

Validation of their inexorable march through the season can only come by adding a Super Bowl championship, their fourth of the decade. Do that and there'll be no challenge to their spot at the top.

Bigger picture of the game.

Vince Wilfork poked somebody in the eye >.>

Outside of that, I can't wait for the shit storm that will come from fans about Moss's pushoff on fourth down and his "grab hold" block as Collinsworth called it. Congrats to Brady and Seau though. All things considered t'was a good game but Pats fans better hope Wilfork doesn't get a suspension for his little pokey pokey, after his shot on Losman I could see the NFL giving him something to think about

Well, "YEAR of perfection" is more than a little misleading...

It won't be a year of perfection untill they win the Superbowl and I don't think that'll happen.

Re: Pats' year of perfection capped by thrilling comeback win over Giants

Lets make this a positive thread on how the Pats are the first to be 16-0 in the regular season. And how Moss, and Brady broke records .

Vote= non hating thread...

Re: Pats' year of perfection capped by thrilling comeback win over Giants

As a Niner fan, I thought it was cool when Jerry Rice went on the NFL network and said that Randy Moss should have an asterisk because he (Rice) caught 22tds in 12 games. He was joking of course, but I still thought it was funny.

As for the game.. I'm shocked the Giants played all their starters and I'm even more shocked that they played so well. People will knock Eli because of his awful pick that ended the game, but he has nothing to hang his head about. The guy played the game of his life.. maybe a sign of things to come? Brandon Jacobs was also impressive. That guy is just a fucking bull but pretty nimble too for a big 260lb back.

I have to give it to Brady and Moss. They might be the best QB/WR tandem since Young/Rice. Maybe a little argument from Manning/Harrison. But anyway, they both played a great game as did Welker.

Pats still have a long ways to go before I call them the best ever and that includes winning the super bowl. If anything, the Giants showed once again the weaknesses that the Pats have. If they don't correct them, especially the over-the-middle pass defense, they could certainly be knocked off.

No doubt. The chemistry those two have together should just scare other teams.

The Giants played great though. As Blade mentioned, Eli had the game of his life. The defense of the Giants showed that the Patriots front line can be beat. When they were reaching Brady, even if it was a second too late, the Patriots offense crumbled.
