| Re: Finally, a good story about the Patriots. It's a fact of life now that teams have to assemble a team of primarily non-drafted players. With free agency, and people getting cut for salary-cap reasons, etc. The Patriots have done a GREAT job of drafting quality players. I remember when they took Ben Watson a few years ago me and my friend were making fun of that pick for weeks...and he's turned out to be a good TE. On top of that, they've dont a great job of acquiring players from other teams, such as the current WR corps, and the LBs. Like I said to start this post, teams inevitably have to find talent that other teams drafted...it's just a matter of circumstance that all the Patriots LBS were drafted by other teams. This debate actually got me thinking about the Giants, and who they drafted and who they acquired from other teams. Of the 22 starters (11 each on offense and defense), here are the ones that they drafted, or undrafted free agents who have only played for the Giants: QB Eli Manning RB Brandon Jacobs WR Amani Toomer TE Jeremy Shockey LT David Diehl LG Rich Seubert (UFA) RG Chris Snee DE Osi Umenyiora DE Michael Strahan LB Matthias Kiwanuka CB Aaron Ross SS Gibril Wilson FS James Butler (UFA) DT Barry Cofield And here are the ones they got from other teams, and the teams that they played for before the Giants: FB Madison Hedgecock, Rams WR Plaxico Burress, Steelers C Shaun O'Hara, Browns RT Kareem McKenzie, Jets LB Antonio Pierce, Redskins LB Kawika Mitchell, Chiefs CB Sam Madison, Dolphins DT Fred Robbins, Vikings Thats a nice mix of drafted players and free agent signings... | |||||||||||||||
