| Re: GMs vote 25-5 to use replay to aid home run decisions Quote:
If a player goes through all the trouble and difficulty of hitting a home run,he should get credit for it. If a player hustles down the line and beats out a throw to first, he should get credit for it. If a pitcher makes a perfect pitch on the outside corner, he should get credit for it. Anything a player does on the field should be rewarded or punished through the appropriate safe/out/fair/foul/ball/strike call. As for people who complain that replay will take too long...What takes longer: Going to the booth for a 30-second replay review, or the umpires huddling together for a minute, making the call, then the manager coming out and arguing for 5 minutes? Make it like the challenge system in football. Managers get two challenges a game. The official scorer is also the replay official. If a manager challenges a play, you throw it up to the booth for a quick replay and within 30 seconds you have the call and play resumes. And most importantly, the right call ismade The "human element" comes from the humans that throw, hit and run. The human element is Albert Pujols hitting a 450-foot home run, or Johan Santana making a hitter look foolish wiht his unhittable change-up, or Jose Reyes speeding around the bases on a ball hit to the gap. Not a bunch of 50-year old, 300-pound man making calls in the field. | ||||||||||||||||

| Re: GMs vote 25-5 to use replay to aid home run decisions I understand what ur talking about tom, I said it before I dont mind it with home runs or foul balls. I am cool with that. But the day they get to zero umps and they use computers would be a sad day for me. | |||||||||||||||

| Re: GMs vote 25-5 to use replay to aid home run decisions I normally agree with Tom, but I'll have to disagree. I don't care, I love the way things are now. Sure they get a few calls wrong. But it's a part of the game. The game was never meant to be perfect, the game was meant to be fun. | |||||||||||||||
