Detroit Lions Trick-or-Treat

i was watching NFL Gameday and Deion Sanders said the lions were more of a trick then a treat, basically saying this is only a little one time thing where they are winning and it probably wont happen again, at least that's the impression i got from it, but what do you guys think?

some things sanders did say was that they played really bad teams, but then rich eisen brought up the fact that the cowboys haven't played that great of teams either

John Morrison: i got backstage passes to the new kids on the block reunion... be jealous

John Morrison: Shannon Moore doesn't even wanna be Shannon Moore

The Miz: We are going to talk about Backlash
John Morrison: or as Lena would say.. Backrash

Re: Detroit Lions Trick-or-Treat

Eh.. so what if they've played bad teams. They ARE supposed to be the bad team. It says something about them that they're 6-2 at the mid point in the season. They have the offense clicking and the defense has even played better than expected.

The Lions aren't a great team by any means but a lot of us predicted them to be much improved. With the NFC as wide open as it is, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Lions in one of the divisional games.

Re: Detroit Lions Trick-or-Treat

Eh, Detroit has a great offense, not sold on the defense. They're kind of like a June Jones coached team. However they have the potential I think to be a playoff team, I don't think they're near as good in the AFC. They will probably make the playoffs in the NFC, and then get beat by a team like Dallas or New York. New York, granted has played shitty teams, but still they've looked impressive(Have yet to watch this weeks games). I think both New York and Dallas are more well-rounded than either Detroit or Green Bay.

Re: Detroit Lions Trick-or-Treat

I don't know how you can't count the defense. They have more takeaways than anyone in the league right now. Our offense is clicking as well, though. Who would have thought that guys like Mike Furrey and Shaun MacDonald would be getting more action than Calvin Johnson? But, Cal is still learning the offense, and the coaches said once he feels more comfortable, he will see more action.

The Lions have had some road victories as well this year, which in the past they have been horrible at doing. I know, it's against teams like Oakland & Chicago, but it's still a step in the right direction.

The second half of the season will be a test for them as they have some challenges up ahead. But they are currently 6-2, and even if they go .500 the rest of the season, they should have at least a wild card spot lined up (it is the NFC after all).

The key right now is they are 3-0 in their division, but haven't played the Packers yet. Thanksgiving day hosting the Pack will be a huge game for them (can't remember the last time the Thanksgiving game was important for the Lions). Couple that with next week's game at Arizona, which is winnable in my book, and exiting Thanksgiving 8-2 would be fantastic.
