Re: MLB Off-Season moves and discussion

I still think it'd be foolish of Bill Smith to get pitching in return, when the Twins are loaded with pitching in their Minor League System. Kevin Slowey, Matt Garza, Glen Perkins, Oswaldo Sosa, some other left-hander whom i can't think of, I think they need a 3rd Baseman, and a LF, both need to be moderate at least at the plate.

Re: MLB Off-Season moves and discussion

Its being reported that Mike Lowell has already received two offers

3 yrs/ 36 million with relatively abtainable incentives to 45 million from Boston

4 yrs/ 60 million from NYC.

Ok, I guess it was nice knowing you Lowell. No way he turns that down.

This opens the well established relationship of Florida and Boston to discuss a Miguel Cabrera trade.

I finally played live and it was fantastic.

Re: MLB Off-Season moves and discussion

It doesn't matter. I understand the Sox had to go after him because of the year he had and his winning of the WS MVP, but he's still getting on in age, I can't see him producing much in the 3rd or 4th years of the contract. He'll be on the DL soon enough. I say if the Sox can't land him for 3 years, see ya!

Sox would obviously be much better off with Cabrera but what do you give the Marlins?

Re: MLB Off-Season moves and discussion

If that Lowell thing is true, I'm not really sure how I feel about it. It seems like a lot for a guy who we might regret in 2 years, a la Johnny Damon...

I agree with Tom, if I was a Yankee fan I don't know how thrilled I'd be.

Re: MLB Off-Season moves and discussion

If you aren't thrilled with that one Tom, your gonna poop when you see this one. I also hate to break it to you Mike, but the Twins seem to want pitching.

Quote:
News: If the Twins decide to shop free-agent-to-be Johan Santana this offseason, the Yankees and Mets would reportedly be first in line for the bidding. The Yankees have young pitchers Joba Chamberlain, Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy to offer, as well as OF Melky Cabrera, while the Mets have SP Phil Humber, SP Mike Pelfrey and OF Lastings Milledge. For now, though, the Twins continue to hold out hope that they can re-sign Santana.

Re: MLB Off-Season moves and discussion

The Detroit Tigers acquired outfielder Jacque Jones and "cash considerations" from the Chicago Cubs for infielder Omar Infante.

Yeah, I saw that Jacque Jones trade...i was just kinda like "Ok..."

I dont think Jones is much of a difference maker.
