Hense the Chargers Houston game being the perfect example of which

Run Plays 14
Pass Plays 3

The colts in there final 7 seven mintues with the ball only let Sorgi throw it once. The Saints ran steckler in there final 4 mintues with the ball and didn't even throw it once. Why? Because when your up thirty you don't need to pass the ball

i didnt see this posted... i hope it hasnt been....

Quote:
Godfrey told NBCSports.com that he approached Belichick after the game and told him he needed to "show some respect for the game."

"You look at all the great head coaches . . . I'm just disappointed," Godfrey told NBCSports.com. "You got to show some class, show some respect. Joe Gibbs? We wouldn't have done that. Bill Walsh? You wouldn't see those types of guys doing that stuff. I've never seen nothing like that. Most teams, you get up like that you sit on the ball and try to run the time out. They're up 30-some points and they're throwing deep. That was blatant disrespect. . . . This isn't like college going for power rankings. This is the pros, you show some respect, show some class."

Which is more class-less?

Throwing deep when you're up by 30+ points, or taking another player out on purpose?

Re: Tom Brady: Target on his back

Doing the first one should warrents the other one to be honest. I'd never really want to see a player hurt but if your being a bully like the Patriots are, some DE or Safety is going to start taking shots at Brady and Moss. Probably leading Bradys Knee exploding on national TV ala Carson Palmer.

Insert Brady in Palmers spot

It happens in hockey, it happens in baseball, it happens in the NBA. If you are going to disrespect your opponent then you must pay the consequences. I'm not saying I would condone it, but I'd understand it.

Re: Tom Brady: Target on his back

I don't know if it should warrant the other. But if you don't give them a reason to do the second, is there a problem?

Re: Tom Brady: Target on his back

Brady is getting cues from his coaches to throw passes. Yes, it's late in the game, and they are ahead. But it's his job to make the plays that are called. It's not Brady's fault he's great and completes his passes to his equally-great receivers.

So Brady should be punished for listening to his coaches and making good plays by being "rewarded" with a season-ending injury by some defensive player that doesn't have the skill to stop him?

Yeah, that makes total sense.

I think Slim answered my question from before. It shows a lot less class taking someone out on purpose than throwing deep passes in a game you're already going to win. End of story.

Re: Tom Brady: Target on his back

Well, it's unfortunately hard to cheap shot Bill Belichick while on the field. And it's funny, no one besides Patriots/Tom Brady/specific player fans are fine with it. I wonder what that's saying about the entire situation. I mean if it was just the teams they were playing against fans whining about it. ok, you have a point. I've not heard one Non-Patriot fan say it's ok and cool that they do it.

I don't condone the injuring of Tom Brady, but I won't be in any shock if any teams take cheap shots at him, Moss, Stallworth, Maroney, Morris, whoever the hell is in there. And really if you're surprised, your completely blind to the emotion of the game. And yes it shows less class, but again, it's not unprovoked.

Don't Provoke and it won't happen.

End of Story.
