Brady vs. Manning

Can we have this discussion again please?

Who would YOU rather have on YOUR favorite team. Let's pretend all your QB's on your team got in a bull riding accident and their careers are finished.

Who is your team and who would you rather have leading them to victory? Brady or Manning?

I will not reply due to my obvious bias. But please don't answer based on my bias.

Thanks

Homer Homerton.

Re: Brady vs. Manning

I say Manning.

I know Brady has 3 Super Bowl Rings (maybe 4 at the end of the season) But there is just something about manning.

I will say this though, Manning has always had a good wr group... Brady has not. Now that brady has a amazing wr group he is on target to get 62 td passes this year. The record is 49 set by manning.

But all together I guess I pick manning, maybe just because I like him better as a person. Any choice is a good choice though.

Re: Brady vs. Manning

I think we've pretty much established I'm an intangible guy. I'll take the gritty hard worker over the talented yet lazy. i.e. I'll take Eric Byrnes on my team before I take J.D. Drew. To me, Tom Brady may have the better stats, but I still don't think anyone can top Peyton. I mean when he throws the ball it looks good. As for Tom Brady, I'm not gonna say he's a total system QB, but I think I see him in the same light as Montana(minus the stellar receiving group). I think he got drafted to the right team that fits his abilities, whereas I think Manning could goto any team and put up the same numbers.

Re: Brady vs. Manning

That is a good point SS. Manning made the horribly god awful Colts respectable again almost by himself.

But I do hate when people say that Brady is a system QB. That drives me shithouse.

Re: Brady vs. Manning

I think he'd put up similar numbers in a different system, I don't think they'd be as gaudy. And the problem with saying he isn't a system QB is that he didn't really do much at Michigan from what I remember and we've never seen him in a different system, so it's hard to judge whether he is or not. Peyton flourished when he was in Tennessee which was a different system.

Re: Brady vs. Manning

I've said it a million times already: Peyton Manning.

Seven unbelievable games by Brady still aren't nearly enough to change my opinion.

Re: Brady vs. Manning

I'm sticking with Manning because simply, I don't think there's a smarter guy in the league then him. Combine his football intelligence with his physical ability and it's pretty damn hard to be better then he is.

However, I don't think Montana or Brady are system QB's. I think that term is more college related. To put up the kind of numbers that Brady or Montana put up and to come through in the big games as huge as they have, there's more to it then just the system.. Lets not forget either that in Brady's case he hasn't always had great WR's around him. Look at what he did with those chumps on his team last year. Yes, I realize they were all Florida Wideouts, but they are chumps. System WR's we'll say.

Re: Brady vs. Manning

I agree with Blade here...I dont really think there are "system QBs" in the NFL

I'm gonna stick with Manning for now, but if Brady keeps playing the way he is, I might have to reassess it at season's end

Think about it like this: Would you say Plaxico Burress is a better WR than Marvin Harrison? Burress has always been good, but he's having an awesome first half, and Marvin has been below his usual level of production.

I kjow the analogy doesnt fit perfectly, but you get the gist. Brady has been in-fucking-credible this year, but let's see how the rest of the season shakes out

Re: Brady vs. Manning

They were talking about this on Mike and Mike today. And Basically they were saying the same that has been said here. With Manning but brady is having the best year ever. And both of them will prolly go down as the best ever.
