I couldn't get on to quote that I was going to, and I didn't want to mess up

Re: Clutch stats

Well.. here's the difference. In this day and age "memorable" home runs and hits are more important to most average and even sport writing fans then a home run or a hit that could be just as important but without the spice of the later innings.

I understand the importance of a 1st inning home run. That homer Sizemore hit the ohter night to lead off the game was HUGE.. It might have set the tone for the entire evening. The Indians could have felt that they had a chance, Wang could have felt "here we go again" ...etc..

Ortiz and Jeter have countless walk off hits and homers in the postseason and A-Rod doesn't have that many. There's the difference that people see.

That's not to give A-Rod a total free pass on the last few years in the playoffs..he's been horrible.. but I could almost guarantee wherever he ends up, he will eventually break out of this slump and go 7-11 with 3 or 4 dingers in a series..

But I guess my question is.. what if? What if for some ungodly reason A-Rod never has a big postseason again? Do you think the fans and the media will look at his place in history differently?
