Re: Nominations for Monks Baseball End Of The Year Award
AL MVP - An A-Bomb from A-Rod......Without a shadow of a doubt, this years MVP. He kept the Yankees going the whole season and provided so far 53 Home Runs with 151 RBI's. Thats redonkulous. I really dont think there is anyone even close to him in this race.
NL MVP - Matt Holliday aka The Most Underrated Player in Baseball. Holliday is 2nd in average (.338), 4th in homeruns (36) and first in RBI's (132) and meanwhile the Rockies are only 2.5 games out of the division title going into the last weekend of the season. Although there is something to be said for Prince Fielder as well.
AL CY - Josh Beckett. 194 innings, 20-6, 3.14 ERA, 188K's. Kept the Sox from never losing more than 4 games in a row all season long. Honorable mention to C.C. Sabathia.
NL CY - Jake Peavy - 217 innings, 19-6 2.36 ERA , 234K's. I wish I could follow NL pitching more, but its tough when you dont see a ton of games. These looked like the best numbers out there though, feel free to correct me on this one.
NL MVP - Matt Holiday, Rockies. Team is on a 10-game winning streak, only a game out of the wild card. Holiday has a batting average over .330, 36 homers, and 131 RBI's.
AL Cy Young - Josh Beckett, Red Sox. 20-game winner and top 5 in the AL in ERA. Sox will win the east division.
NL Cy Young - Jake Peavy, Padres. 19-game winner and leads the majors in ERA by more than .5, the Pads are also in the thick of the playoff race.

How about adding Rookie of the Year to the thread too?
I'll post my choices tomorrow. I'm actually undecided on NL MVP, but leaning towards Holliday. AL MV, NL Cy Young, and both ROYs are obvious to me...AL CY is between Beckett and Sabathia...
p.s. Anybody who says anything other than A-Rod for AL MVP doesnt know lickity split about baseball, or is a gigantic homer.
