Re: Rank the NFL starting QBs

I'm trying to play consistency wise here, Levens was pretty good but constantly in the wrong position for blocking, and had some issues catching the ball as I recall. Also I stated Green was by far the best back he's played with.

Re: Rank the NFL starting QBs

Not to notpick, but pass-catching was one of Dorsey's strong suits.

Favre definitely made a lot of pedestrian receivers look a lot better than they actually were (Bill Schroeder, anybody?), but that's part of being a great quarterback. Packers fans generally love to argue Favre's case in a "What if he had a Jerry Rice or a Clayton/Stallworth to throw to," but the truth is, he's almost always had one very good receiver to throw to: Sharpe, Brooks, Freeman, Walker, and now Driver were/are all very good football players. You could certainly presume his stats might have been even better if he'd gotten the chance to play longer with each of those guys, and to develop a stronger rapport... but I don't think he's been short-changed.

Strictly one man's opinion.

I did this based on who I would want on my team first and so on down the line.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o

I rank Favre higher by the way, because I'm afraid to know what would happen if you gave him Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Anthony Gonzalez, Dallas Clark, Joesph Addai, etc.

It would look like Brady to Moss this year. Brady has won 3 Superbowls with average at best recievers and also had Antwoin Smith as his back one year.

Personally I think Favre looks better than he has in years this season.

Re: Rank the NFL starting QBs

I put Brooks/Freeman in the same boat as Schroeder, albeit not as deep as Schroeders, but all three fell off after they left. Granted, Brooks was hurt when he went to Denver. Also, did I mention Mike Sherman?

Then you've gone completely insane.

Maybe you were a bit young when Brooks and Freeman were in their prime, but they were each ten times better than stone-hands Schroeder (who SOMEHOW scraped off at least one 1000-yard season thanks to Favre).

Robert Brooks was a very good receiver and a top-flight playmaker before he caught the injury bug -- and Freeman was even better. It was only when he signed that monster contract that he became lazy and unproductive on the field, but before that, there was even a (very brief) stint where many considered him to be the best receiver in all of football. To put either in the same boat as Schroeder, no matter how deep the boat is, is completely off-base.

As for Mike Sherman, he was a fine coach for a number of years; unfortunately, like most coaches, he lost his team's faith in his last couple years there, and he got canned. Personally, I've never really "regretted" all those successful seasons he had with the team.

Re: Rank the NFL starting QBs

When I said same boat, I meant they wouldn't be half as good without Favre to be honest. And you are correct. I am young. I remember portions of 96-97 98-00 I have better recollection, and 00+ I know a little bit more about. So from MY recollection of Robert Brooks he reminds me of Santana Moss. A flash-in-a-pan WR. He's definitely serviceable, but he's not that consistent. Again that's what I REMEMBER. I didn't really start getting into the logistics of football until 00 so I'm sorry if my young memory fails me at times.
