Re: NFL In-Season Discussion

Well, if Pennington plays anything like he did yesterday, the Giants will be 3-2 after Sunday

If 8-8 gets you a playoff berth in the NFc this year (like it did last year), the Giants stand a chance at making the playoffs

Did you guys see Osi Umenyiora last night? He was a man possessed....

The Eagles O-line had problems all night though. I remember 2 or 3 plays where Antonio Pierce blitzed right up the middle and no blocker even laid a finger on him. I remember one of the plays, McNabb barely got a throw off while Pierce had him in his grasp, and they converted a first down. So, it could have been even more than 12 sacks.

Awful game by the Eagles O-line...

yup. awful awful awful. If the eagles O-line dont tunr it around quick, they will be in for a LOOOOONG season. The only other o-line I would say that is either as bad, or just as bad is the rams. They have too many injuries, and they just are not getting it done.

Re: NFL In-Season Discussion

I was shocked. After what the Eagles and McNabb did to the Lions, I thought for sure they'd give the Giants a hard time or even beat them, but the Giants have players on D, at least more than the Lions, and they all showed up.

Giants are right back in it.

Re: NFL In-Season Discussion

wow...the Giants have a much softer schedule than I realized...

Their next 4 games are all winnable: vs. Jets, @ Atlanta, vs. San Francisco, @ Miami (that's the game being played in London). I'll say they'll be 4-4 at worst, 6-2 at best after this stretch...5-3 to be safe

Then they have the bye. After the bye it's vs. Dallas (tough game), @ Detroit, vs. Minnesota, @ Chicago (might be tough, might not), @ Philly (should be tough), vs. Washington (division games are always tough), @ Buffalo, vs. New England (no way in hell they win, unless the Patriots are 14-1 and have locked up #1 seed and rest all their players).

So, there's 2 no-way-in-hell games (Dallas and NE), and 3 semi-tough games. I'll say best-case scenario is 5-3, worst-case is 3-5, 4-4 on average

That would get the G-Men in the 8-9 win range, which might be enough to get them a playoff berth. Absolute best-case scenario is 11 wins, worst case is 7...

As long as there isnt a rash of injuries like last year...

Re: NFL In-Season Discussion

I agree with the 8-9 range, that's where I would have placed them early in the season, but the problem I see.. is that everyone in the NFC is going to be in the same range.

You have the Cowboys who should get to 10 wins and the Packers who are well on their way, possibly the Seahawks..

but then there's the Eagles, Skins, Giants, Lions, Bears, Bucs, and maybe Panthers or Saints all in the same win total.

I hope the Packers do well for Favre, I want him to have an Elway Ending
And I don't think, you see the places inside me that I find you,
And I don't know, how we separate the lies here from the truth,
And I don't know, how we woke up one day somehow thought we knew,
Exactly what we're supposed to do.
So leave me, at the Roadside,
And hang me, up and out to dry,

Re: NFL In-Season Discussion

Some quick hits for this week

Marc Bulger will be Benched for this upcoming week, look for Gus Frerotte to start in his place.

J.P. Losman will also be riding the pine as Trent Edwards gets the call to start for the Bills

The Buccaneers are reportedly looking at trading for Minnesota's 3rd back, Mewelde Moore. Moore is mired behind Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor

Mewelde Moore is probably my favourite college player ever, but I don't know that he's a much different player than Michael Pittman, who they already have. That move wouldn't make sense to me.

pittman is a great back. I dont think they are trying to replace him, just trying to get some more depth in that position while cadilac is out. John loves to pound the ball.
