Why am I not impressed by the punishment? This wouldn't stop me from doing the same thing

I'm really surprised they didn't suspend Belicheck for 4 games. Think about it: when a player uses ways to cheat (takes steroids, whatever) they suspend him for part of the season. So when a coach uses ways to cheat, he should get a similar punishment.

The 1/2 million fine to him and 1/4 million to the team is just "eh". I think they got off easy, however the draft pick loss does justify it a little more to me.

Its really easy why they didnt suspend him.

He's not the only coach that does it.

Mangini himself, has gotten in trouble for tampering with our players, and even had Rechee Caldwell come to NY days before the game to get info on the Patriots. Teams hire people to try and steal signs, to the point where every team has multiple signal callers, including dummy callers, to throw off such attempts. If he came down to hard on Bill, than it would be unfair considering every team tries the same thing.

Bellichick didnt get in trouoble for attempting to steal signals, he got in trouble for having an illegal cameraman on the field during play.

And losing a draft pick is HUGE. considering we have two starters we got from last years draft, thats a big deal tio the Pats.

Every team tries the same thing, but the Pats are the ones who got caught. I'm actually a fan of the Pats, but what they did was wrong. I don't care if that cameraman was stealing signals or just taping part of the game, it's not allowed by the rules. Sorry.

Here's the thing though if you're the Jets (or anyone else who thinks their opponent might be trying to steal signals).....at halftime, go and change your signals!

I heard on the radio this morning that the Patriots employee was sent to a Jets practice and that is where he got caught with a camera filming their signals.

Did anyone else hear this?

^^No that is false.

And yes, the Patriots violated a rule, and deserve the punishment. And since the tape wouldnt have been reviewed till after the game, it doesnt make much sense to tape signals, as they would ahve been changed by the time we play them next anyways.

But I just think its stupid if people try to make it seem like the NFL is a boy scout honor code league. Tampering, Signal snatching, and all sorts of shit go into this league.

and do what? You get 10 minutes at half. You would have to decipher which caller is the true caller, which signals mean what, and than add it to the gameplan. Not enough time.

Likewise lol'ing atr Patriot haters turning this into a bigger deal than it is.

He should not have had a camera on the sideline. Truth. But to say other teams dont do the same thing, is bullshit.

The plain and simple fact is the idea. He had the camera, whether it helped him or not matters not to me. You shouldn't even HAVE the camera there. The idea that you're using to cheat even furthurs this. And it's not really just the Patriots haters blowing this out of proportion. I think I've seen tons of fans call for Mangini's head. Here's a hint, former assistant or not. DON'T GET CAUGHT! I wouldn't have suspended him for four games, but one. One game for cheating in one game, plus what they got.

Other teams aren't stupid enough to have the guy stood on the other teams sidelines though.

The Pats are stacked to high heaven anyway, losing a 1st Rounder next year doesn't mean shit to them. They'll be fine and won't have to deal with some prima donner 1st rounder wanting a billion dollar contract. The Colts don't have a first round pick next year either.
