For training.

David Beckham is coming home this winter.

But the former England captain will NOT be playing for a Premier League club on loan from LA Galaxy.

He is looking for somewhere to train, and talks have already taken place with Arsenal.

The Gunners are understood to have offered Beckham the use of their hi-tech training facilities at London Colney and would allow the midfielder to train with the firstteam squad.

The arrangement would suit the Beckham family because their Hertfordshire home is not far away.

I thought the whole point to his multi million contract (from the US point of view) was having him over there as an ambassador to promote "soccer".

Not much of an ambassador if he's over in the UK for the winter.

I think the MLS is a summer league meaning he would be doing absolutly nothing during the winter.

That was my point. So the winter he should be doing the ambassadorial work, visiting cities and promoting the league all over the States. He can't be doing that when he's playing competitive games and travelling backwards and forwards for England fixtures.

MLS has zero chance of any exposure during it's off season as it is NFL and World Series Time.

The best way for Beckham to promote the game is to play for the club which he can't do unless its during the season. There will be no column inches for MLS when the big two US Sports come to head.

The way the deal is structured he get a percentage of kits sold, attendances, etc. So if people don't come to the matches, or buy his merchandise then he won't make the top end of what he's reportedly going to get. Although he'll still rake it in.

I do find it a bit strange that he'd come back to train in the UK. I haven't seen this story anywhere other than here. I don't think he'll do it as it would mean uprooting the family to come over here for a few months. I don't think Victoria would trade the sunshine of LA for the rain clouds of London.
