NFL Exhibition Games

So as the preseason ends, we are starting to hear about some not-so-serious injuries as a result of the exhibition games, and maybe some that are a little serious.

Do you agree with the current 4-game exhibition season? Maybe they should cut it down to 2 games, or just scrap it altogether?

Discuss.

Re: NFL Exhibition Games

I think pre season it something you have to have. I think most coaches to it right with the amount of time they keep there star players on the grass.. Injury is just somehting you have got to hope doesnt happen.

Re: NFL Exhibition Games

I don’t know much about Football, however I am going to be taking an interest this season. For me you need a few pre season games, whichever sport it is. It will allow you to see how your new acquisitions can play with their new team mates. It allows you to go through moves, and try different combinations. Also come the big kick off, the players will not be as nervous as they could be. They’ll have already had a few run outs, shaken away the cobwebs they may have had, and are better prepared game-wise for the season.

Re: NFL Exhibition Games

2 games would be fine. 4 is rediculous. We don't need like Tom Brady or LaDainian Tomlinson lost for the season. If I'm the coaches, I don't even play my stars until the last two games.

I agree, two games is plenty adequate.

I'd probably agree that 2 is a better number than 4.

Well in reality the teams starters only play 2 preseason games anyway, the 2nd and the 3rd and in those games the starters only play about 1-2 quarters.

The preseason is neccessary at 4 games so that the coaches can evaluate the depth chart players. Like last night to my peril I stayed up to watch the Colts and Bengals, Palmer, Johnson, C Johnson, TJ etc and Manning, Marvin, Reggie and Addai didn't even suit up however there were some rookie players who need NFL experience and some players who were playing for a spot on the roster who were really going at it and need these games as do the coaches who can only evaluate them so much in camp.

What is the difference between getting laid out in the preseason to getting laid out in Game 1 like Dan Morgan and Trent Green last year? Football is a mans game and people are gonna get hurt. Thats why getting the roster spots right is essential so the back ups can do the job that can't be done in 2 games when you're starters are gonna need playing time too.

I think 4 is just the right amount.
