NFL - HOF if they retired today.

Feel free to discuss at any length your decisions.....

If any of these guys suffered career ending injuries or simply retired before this current season started, would the make the Hall Of Fame?

These are not MY choices for HOF careers. I think there are a few definite NO's in there. Also, feel free to add your own submissions.

Links provided to their career stats from yours truely. *edit. NFL.com keeped freezing. Thats all the links I got right now*

Re: NFL - HOF if they retired today.

LT - No, he hasn't been in the NFL long enough and produced on a consistent basis (he's well on the the way though.)

No way should Ty Law, Mike Vick, TO or Randy Moss

All the others I would say yes although I'm in 2 minds with Ray Lewis.

Moss and TO have better numbers than 99% of the WR's in the hall of fame.

Based on your list:

Absolutely, beyond any doubt: Brett Favre, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Junior Seau

Almost certainly, yes: Ray Lewis, Michael Strahan, Tony Gonzalez, Adam Vinatieri

It can't be said for sure, but a couple more good years would clinch it: Champ Bailey, John Lynch, LaDainian Tomlinson, Ty Law

It can't be said for sure, but a couple more good years and a bit of good behavior would clinch it: Terrell Owens, Randy Moss

Absolutely not: Michael Vick, Priest Holmes

Guys you missed who are absolute locks to make it include Larry Allen, Walter Jones and Marvin Harrison. Other guys who are well on their way include Brian Urlacher, Richard Seymour and Torry Holt.

Orlando Pace? come on if you're giving Walter Jones love you gotta love the Pace man. And how does Champ need a few more good years? he's been phenomenal since stepping foot on the field. Olin Kreutz and Matt Birk have anchored their respective lines since they were Rookies. Also Derrick Brooks anyone? I mean come on, He's only one of the best outside linebackers ever.

Re: NFL - HOF if they retired today.

I agree with mostly everything you said -- those guys simply hadn't popped into my head yet.

My feeling about Bailey is, yeah, he's easily an all-time top-five cornerback, but he's also still pretty young. Tomlinson might be the greatest back of all time, but no one will give him that title until he plays out his career. Bailey would probably make it if something awful happened to him today, but you can't be sure. In one or two years, he'll have earned the company of the all-time greats.

I'm actually a bit iffy on Birk and Kreutz, if only because they play highly non-glorified positions. Has Dermontti Dawson been elected yet? If not, he definitely gets in before those two.

Alan Faneca is another guy who should probably make it.

Re: NFL - HOF if they retired today.

First off, my PERSONAL Feelings, Michael Irvin does NOT belong in the HOF, And no this isn't my personal byist against the cowboys coming out, it's the fact that he doesn't have HOF numbers.

And Julius Peppers/Dwight Freeney? Warren Sapp? Bryant Young? Warrick Dunn(yes it's a stretch but contributions on and off the field)? Simeon Rice? Ronde Barber? Steve Hutchinson? Shaun Alexander? Chris McAllister?
