Re: NFL - HOF if they retired today.

Anyone see Michael Irivins speech? As a father it was heartwarming. To think I would use Michael Irvin and heartwarming in the same sentence is a little freaky almost.

Although he still has no idea on how to dress

Re: NFL - HOF if they retired today.

yeah that was a really awesome speech he did Danny.

Ty Law - I would say no as of right now.

LaDanian Tomlinson - It is really no doubt he is a future HOF back, but has he done enough to deserve it as of right now?

Champ Bailey - Way to early

John Lynch - Yes. This man is a great guy and awesome player.

Tom Brady- Early but he has already 3 rings. Yes.

Peyton Manning - Yes.

Adam Vinateri - Yes

Bret Favre - Of Course

Tony Gonzalez - Ya, I think so, maybe not a first rounder though.

Junior Seau -Ya..

Ray Lewis - Yeah, the man is a beast.

Terrell Owens - I would say so, after he gets his superbowl ring this year then for sure

Randy Moss - Well, he kind of went away when he went to oakland, lets see if he can step it up again.

Mike Vick- Hell No.

Michael Straham - Yes without a doubt.

Priest Holmes- No

Re: NFL - HOF if they retired today.

I generally agree with Freak's breakdown, but I would move Bailey up one level, to the "Almost Certainly Yes" level

In an era of high-powered passing games, and rules designed to increase offense, especially through the passing game, Bailey has been a shutdown corner to a level that is unmatched in the league right now.

I remember watching a Broncos game last season and only hearing Bailey's name called like once or twice, and I thought to myself "Holy shit...teams REALLY make a concerted effort to avoid throwing to Champ's side of the field"

Another thing to remember is that the NFL HOF is very picky about letting people in. The percentage of players that get in are very slim, probably the slimmest of any of the major sports. So, anybody that you're on the fence about probably won't get in.

Re: NFL - HOF if they retired today.

ya just look at terrence newman. You hardly ever see a team throw to his side. They fear him, and for that he does not get his name mentioned a lot and gets snubbed.

Re: NFL - HOF if they retired today.

These guys are more household names due to their postions, but what about guys like Jonothan Ogden (OL), Larry Allen (OL), or Orlando Pace (OL)...

You have to keep in mind guys like Rod Smith, Brian Urlacher, and Marvin harrison... all of whom I would add to this list and rank deserving and likey in the top half tier.

Ty Law - Not right now, maybe in the future if he can grab some records

LaDanian Tomlinson - Hold all time record for TD in a season and MVP. First ballot pick.

Champ Bailey - Should be in, but if it ended today, probably not first ballot pick

John Lynch - First ballot pick

Tom Brady - Should be in, but if it ended today, probably not first ballot pick

Peyton Manning - Should be in, but if it ended today, probably not first ballot pick

Adam Vinateri - First ballot

Bret Favre - First ballot

Tony Gonzalez - Should be in, but if it ended today, probably not first ballot pick

Junior Seau - FIrst Ballot

Ray Lewis - First Ballot

Terrell Owens - HA

Randy Moss - HA

Mike Vick - and HA

Michael Strahan - Should be in, but if it ended today, probably not first ballot pick

Priest Holmes - Did I mention Ha?

------------------------------------------
My additioins...

Marvin Harrison - A corner stone of the Colts franchise and Manning's #1 WR. HE should be in, but maybe not first ballot

Brian Urlacher - First Ballot, He is the Chicago Bears Def and every year is a solid nominee for Def Player of the Year.

Rod Smith - May not have everyone agree with me here, but he was the leading reciever on 2 Super Bowl Teams with the Broncos, he is also the NFL leader in receptions, reception yards, and TD's for an undrafted WR. I wouldn't say he is a lock for first ballot, but he should be in there in time.

Ummm Tom, are we forgetting the ever-so stingy Baseball HOF, which still won't let Bert Blyleven in. Which is outrageous in my opinon

Re: NFL - HOF if they retired today.

can someone for once explain in detail why owens needs more then 800 catches, 11,000 yards, and 114tds!!! to get in..?

pass happy league or not, those numbers are damn impressive. I don't want to hear about attitude, that notion is insane.. many a-holes are in the hall as we speak.

Owens gets my vote, If Irvin can get in, it'd be complete bullshit if Owens didn't

Re: NFL - HOF if they retired today.

exactly. Same with Lofton. I don't care if Irvin has 3 rings, the Cowboys winning had a lot more to do with Smith, Aikman, that o-line, and their defense.
