Kinda suprised about this one actually. I think he did very well with this contract, but he could have gotten more.
Quote:
News: Great week to be Ichiro Suzuki. The Seattle leadoff man signed a $90 million, five-year contract extension Friday, three days after he was the unanimous MVP of the All-Star game. The deal ensures Seattle, enjoying its best season in four years, will not lose its franchise cornerstone to free agency this fall. Instead, the Mariners will keep the seven-time All-Star and perennial Gold Glove outfielder under contract until age 39.
Analysis: Suzuki led the majors with 128 hits going into Friday night's game against Detroit. He was batting .355 with five home runs and 39 RBI, and had stolen 23 bases. For those who think signing a new contract will change Ichiro, think again. He plays hard every game and will continue to do so.

This thread should read "re-signs". At first when I read this I thought he quit the team.
Ichiro is one of the only things Seattle has going right now. Their pitching is horrible, and they don't have many great bats either. Just watched my Tigers clean up with them tonight, and I must say....Seattle must be worshiping Suzuki.
1st of all, the Yankees have to worry about A-Rod opting out of his contract and re-signing Posada.
2nd, what is the Yankees record right now? How many championship have they won since 2000? Yeah..
Finally, Seattle's lineup is just fine. They have a better lineup then most and they have some nice young pitching they are hoping develops and stays healthy..
