| Re: Ichiro resigns with Seattle For the record, I dont think baseball's current economic system is fair, and I fully support a salary cap in baseball, despite the fact that it would most adversely affect my favorite team. But, as long as the current system is in place, it makes sense for the Yankees to use it to their advantage, and I don't think you can fault them for spending money. They have it, so why not spend it? When Johan Santana becomes a free agent, will they say "Hmm, we have an extra $150 million to throw at this guy, but you know what, for the sake of fairness, let's let the Angles have hm for $130 million"? Of course not, because that would be a poor business decision, and a poor on-field decision. And, I stand by my "you can't expect a team to win the World Series every year statement", for all the reasons I previously mentioned. Especially when there are teams like the Cubs (who have PLENTY of money) and the Indians whose fans would kill to see just one world Series championship, never mind the 4 I've seen since my 16th birthday. | |||||||||||||||

| Re: Ichiro resigns with Seattle I understand what you're saying, but to me, it takes the fun out of the game when you have a guy like Santana sign with the Yankees because of their money and nothing else. There is no loyalty anywhere. It makes me sick when a guy like A-Rod tries to convince the fans that he'd rather play in New York then anywhere else when he was considering taking a cut in pay to play for Boston and now he's not even letting the Yankees negotiate with him during the season. I love the game, I grew up watching it, but there are reasons why I enjoy the NFL much more and it has little to do with football being a better sport, because it's not.. I think they're equal.. just the NFL is run about a million times better. And people can fuck off with the dynasty shit because the Patriots and Colts are just as dominate in this league as the Cowboys and Niners were.. Not as much depth in talent.. but just as dominate. And for the record, I never said the Yanks should win every single year, I've made that clear.. I said they have been favored for 7 years in a row and are going to be without a single championship in that timeframe. They are running out of excuses and fast.. | |||||||||||||||

| Re: Ichiro resigns with Seattle I agree with Blade, Seriously if guys like Santana, Zambrano, Peavy, Haren, Willis, Miguel Cabrera, Justin Morneau, Mauer, go to the Yankees/Angels/Red Sox/Dodgers/Mets, I don't like it. I mean the Twins obviously can't keep Nathan, Morneau, Mauer and Santana with the limited budget, but it will be weird when they are in different uniforms. And I doubt the Twins would let Santana walk, they'll probably trade him. See: Knoblach, Chuck; Milton, Eric; Lohse, Kyle etc. | |||||||||||||||
