Free-agent linebacker LaVar Arrington was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident in the Washington, D.C., area, the player's agent told ESPN.com on Monday.
Carl Poston said it was his understanding that Arrington suffered a broken bone in his arm, three broken bones in his leg, cuts and bruises. The injuries do not appear to be life-threatening. He is recovering at Prince George's Hospital Center.
Arrington, a former Pro Bowl linebacker for the Washington Redskins, is not currently under contract to any team. The 28-year-old Arrington is still rehabilitating an Achilles tendon tear that cut short his 2006 season with the New York Giants.
Senior writer Michael Smith covers the NFL for ESPN.com

It was pretty much over already, but this should guarantee it.
As for his career itself, Lavar Arrington has been one of the biggest disappointments in the league since I began watching in 1993. That's not to say he was ever a bad player, or that he wasn't one of the top linebackers in his conference for maybe a year or two, but coming out of college this guy was supposed to be the next Lawrence Taylor -- and that was barely an unreasonable future for him, given his skill set. He was a freak of nature, but for some reason could never put it all together.
Also: ESPN's Michael Smith, listed above -- is that the guy who did a few of the draft-day segments on ESPN? Michael A. Smith, or something? I was really impressed by him.

I agree with Freak on LaVar. At Penn St. he was an animal. I remember teams used to have trouble just kicking extra points with him out there because of his incredible vertical leap. Shame he never reached his potential.
