Kobe .. where will he be?

Okay, first off, I'm sorry I don't have exact proof or a source, BUT I heard this with my very own ears about 10 minutes ago and find it pretty interesting .. and amazing !!

Alright, well, I came home from work and TheScore was on, and basically there was a radio interview with Kobe as the guest. They asked Kobe if he was still comfortable in LA, and if he would like to be traded .. Kobe said as bad as it hurts to admit it, he really wants out. They then asked if there is anything LA could do to keep him there after his contract expires, and he plainly said, "No".

Kobe is obviously, but far, the sweetest guy in the NBA for the past 5 years, and I always liked the Lakes, but without Shaq, they really are just an ugly team.

If Kobe makes out of his contract and really goes to another team, I will be pumped .. but if so, who would you expect him to make the jump to?

ME?

I would love to see him on ... :

1. Phoenix - Cuz it's my fav. team, but I don't think it would work.
2. G'State - Would be great with Baron and JRich.
3. New Orleans - Where he was supposed to go. They would be sick.

Either way, if it happened, would you be pumped, pissed, or completely unaffected ,,, ?

Remember the Spyda, dude ..

Re: Kobe .. where will he be?

Yeah, he was being interviewed on Steven A. Smith's radio show this morning, and I heard it live as well. My jaw dropped a little when I heard he wanted to be traded, although I can't blame him.

He was asked where he'd like to go, and basically said he will go anywhere, he just wants out of LA. I wonder how the Lakers will respond...

Re: Kobe .. where will he be?

There are only a handful of teams with enough cap space/tradeable talent to make a deal happen, so if I had to guess right now, I'd say Kobe will be back with the Lakers next year and opt out after the 2008-2009 season.

However, if we're to consider which teams could possibly make a run, I know Charlotte and Orlando both have enough cap space to facilitate a deal, and I'm sure Jordan would love to make Kobe a Bobcat. I don't know what they'd have to give up -- probably a sign-and-trade with Gerald Wallace, one or two of Felton, Morrison or May (I don't think they'd trade Okafor) and draft picks. I can't even think of what the Magic could offer the Lakers.

The Bulls are actually another team who could conceivably go after Kobe, but I don't know if they want to mess with that young nucleus. Some combination of Tyrus Thomas and Ben Gordon (plus filler and that Knicks pick) might come close without giving up too much.

Whatever happens, there's no way the Lakers get fair value, and I honestly don't think he'll get traded.

I'm pretty new to the NBA but there is no way Dallas trade Dirk for Kobe, sure Dirk had a poor offseason but Kobe is poison on a team, Dallas had the best season record, they don't need to destroy that with a player like Kobe.

I think a team like Charlotte or maybe Seattle make the trade if not Kobe will stay.

yeah i agree. I would hate that trade, Dirk is the mvp and he for sure helped dallas big time this season, (just not in the playoffs =(... ) I don't like kobe as a man, so i would hope they would not make this trade, but it would be a interesting trade for the sports world to talk about nonetheless.

Re: Kobe .. where will he be?

How about Portland, Freak? They have a lot of young talent and mad draft picks.

No way in hell do I see either the Blazers or Lakers coming to terms on an agreement. LA needs star power, as honestly it's a town of a bunch on hollywood movie stars and the prices are outrageous. There's really only a handful of players who could keep the Lakers from taking a gigantic revenue hit. So the number one pick wouldn't do because I don't see Oden thriving in the LA market, but in the same token I think Portland has their mind set on the cornerstone Center. I really have Kobe retracting his statements quickly and staying put in LA. only real possible trade would be to the Bulls for Luol Deng, Ben Gordon and Ben Wallace, which IMO is too much.

Re: Kobe .. where will he be?

Well.. it's their choice. They can either be smart and put together a good young nucleus, or they can be the New York Knicks. Ask Tom how well that's going..

LOL you mean to tell me at 29 years old Kobe can be part of a good young nucleus? Fact is the Lakers blew it last year, they had a chance to give up Jordan Farmar and maybe Luke Walton and get a perrenial all-star in Jason Kidd. The Lakers really screwed themselves by trading away an all-star for Kwame Brown. Hopefully the GM won't blow it again and this year he'll go and spend some money and get Kobe a big man who can actually play.
