You mentioned the high prices and satisfying the fanbase with current all-stars.. The Knicks tried that shit and it doesn't work. You have to take a risk and tank a season or two. It's the only way to get better in this league. Basically, I'm saying if Kobe doesn't want to be there, they should entertain the thought of trading him for some young players with great upside.

I personally think that Kobe's just talking a lot of shit and wont be headed anywhere and if he does its not going to be Portland lol, With the line up Portland are on route to getting and how theyve changed the franchise from the "Jail Blazers" to a talented young team. I just don't see Kobe fiting in to there program. However I've heard a few rumors of Kobe being traded to The Sonics for Kevin Durant. I don't know how high the Sonics are on Durant, but it seems like a long shot to me. I don't know where I see Kobe fighting to be honest, Hes got a contract not to many teams probably want. Hes a bit of a trouble maker and is pretty much a ball hog a lot of the time. Unless the Grizzlies or the Hornets want him *shrugs* he stays in L.A

I'll respond to a few points made: First, in response to the Lakers needing to rebuild: apparently a big part of the reason Kobe is/was unhappy in LA is because the team DOES plan to stay in a rebuilding mode, and that upsets him as a player who wants to win now. So in the case that Kobe does get moved, the Lakers don't necessarily need to acquire "star power" in return. Second, in response to Kobe as a Trailblazer: well, I guess Portland has the ammo, but they're also looking like they're finally getting their shit together. I'm honestly not sure if Portland would be willing to trade even the #1 pick alone for Kobe at this point -- especially with Brandon Roy already on the roster. Greg Oden is the kind of guy you build championship teams around. In my opinion, for a deal to happen, Roy would be a key piece going to the Lakers, Oden would remain a Trailblazer, and perhaps a guy like Zach Randolph would be the other main piece. I guess it could happen, but if I was Portland, I'd stay put. Finally, Seattle: that's another team I considered, but I'd be very surprised if the #2 pick was involved. Ray Allen, Luke Ridnour and Nick Collison would be a decent package for the Lakers to look at, although still not fair value for Kobe.

I think that there's no way LA will trade Kobe to a team in the West. If anything, it would be an East team. Chicago and New Orleans would be two of the most probable teams in my opinion, and they are one of the few teams that have good players/draft picks to even make an enticing trade for Kobe. However, when all is said and done he'll be a Laker next season, IMO.

That team with the players they currently have, should be a contender for many years.. Why screw with it? In Bill Simmmon's latest article, he brought up Phoenix as a possible canidate. Basically the potential trade was something like Marion, Barbosa, and a 1st rounder for Kobe and I believe Radmonovic. If you're Phoenix what do you do? I don't think the Lakers could get better value then that, but is Phoenix done? Do they need to take this risk? Will they ever win a championship with the roster they have? I don't know, but a starting 5 that includes Nash, Stoudamire, Kobe, Bell, and Diaw sounds pretty fucking nasty..

I don't think he really has that much value on the trade market as it is anyways, Hes a great player but hes got age going against him and a lot of teams really want to build around a young star or in the case of Chicago and Portland, Multiple Young Stars. Like Blade said I think Chicago has to good of a line up to trade any core players for Kobe. In a couple years with some more playoff time under them they could be in the finals or at least contending. Unless New York or Boston is Kobe's team of choice, he might have to tough it out as a Laker.
