Rep Power: 6 ![]() ![]() ![]() gXboxLive Leaderboard: 22nd | Parry: Simao deal is possible Parry: Simao deal is possible ![]() Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry has confirmed the club is still interested in securing the services of Simao Sabrosa. The Benfica winger has been a long-term target of Rafael Benitez, and was in fact given permission to fly to Anfield for a medical in August 2005. The Portuguese giants pulled the plug on that £10million deal, but now the Reds are ready to renew their interest in the player. Furthermore, Parry claimed that a swap deal involving France striker Djibril Cisse could be on the cards. He has spent the season on loan at Marseille, and while he favours a move to either an English or a Spanish club, he may be interested in the switch to Portugal. Speaking to Portuguese daily A Bola, Parry said: "There are players we are interested in and Simao is one. "But we have made no contact with Benfica. A swap with Cisse could be a possibility." The former Auxerre forward's agent Ranko Stojic refused to rule out the possibility of a move, but claimed that it would not be Cisse's first choice. "Anything is possible but Djibril's priority is to move to a club in either England or Spain who are in the Champions League," the agent told A Bola. "Liverpool will not be able to decide Cisse's future without the authorisation of the player." Cisse joined the Merseysiders for £14million in 2004, but spent last term back in France after falling out of favour with Benitez. He scored eight goals in 21 appearances for L'OM after missing much of the start of the campaign with a broken leg, sustained playing for his country before the World Cup. Credit - ITV Sport I sure hope it is possible, I have admired Simao for a long time, but a lot more after he scored that amazing and at the same time dramatic goal against us in the Champions League. I would love to see him come to Liverpool. | |
