If anything, they'll be getting better. Beckett should be ready to come back soon, who was tearing it up in the 1st month and a half and John Lester who was so good for the Sox a year ago is also slated for a comeback.

The Yanks have Clemens coming, but that's not nearly enough for the way they've been playing. I'm not going to completely bury the Yankees though. They still have the most potent offense in the game and when they do get Clemens they'll have a decent starting 5 of Clemens, Pettitte, Wang, Mussina, and maybe Hughes. They should definitely be able to get themselves into the wild card race, but they have to start winning now!

Re: Goodbye AL East

We're pathetic right now. Manny is taking his sweet ass time getting back to the field, while Ortiz is hobbling around injured. JD Drew sucks major balls, and we keep going through retarded hitting slumps. Our once solid bullpen is now in shambles, and our two Japanese phenoms are all pooped out from the long american season.

*sigh* And tbh, I want NO part of Anaheim OR Clevland right now.

Re: Goodbye AL East

Despite only a 1-game difference in the loss column, I still think the Red Sox will finish ahead of the Yankees (Note: Yankees win the division if the 2 teams finish tied). The Red Sox play absolute chumps from here on out, and although the Yankees schedule isnt that tough, they do have to face the Blue Jays stud pitchers (Halladay, Burnett, Mcgowan) this weekend. I think the Red Sox can maybe gain a game or two on the Yankees this weekend, and then finish the year one or two games ahead of the Yankees.

This is not reverse psychology or anything like that, btw. It's my genuine, honest opinion of how I think things will shake out. But obviously, I hope the Yankees win the division...

Re: Goodbye AL East

Fuckin Lucchino on the radio "Losing the division wouldnt be the worst thing in the world." (Of course as long as the Sox make the playoffs.) Yeah, playing 500 for 3 months, while letting a fuckin 13 game lead slip away from th Yankees. We leave more men stranded seemingly every game, and "timely hits" are few and far between.

Thats a winning fuckin attitude there Pres-o-dent.

Well, it was late at night, I didn't feel like picking the quote apart, but the basis was it seemed you were pretty sure the Sox were going to run away with the division. You do make up for it as you have all the Yankees wild card stuff in there, and I did much worse by saying I didn't think anyone would catch Milwaukee(oops). So in essence the entire post isn't an oops, but it'd feel like Twins/Tigers '06 if the Damn Yankees win the division.

Re: Goodbye AL East

The Cardinals almost had an even bigger collapse, and they barely squeaked into the playoffs...and won it all.

The 2000 Yankees did the same thing. It doesnt matter how you finish...as long as you get there...
