WENGER TO WATCH FORMER CRIPPLE
Despite Emmanuel Adebayor signing a new contract at Arsenal, The Sun maintains that 'ArsÃ¨ne Wenger is set to step up his interest in Michael Owen.'

'Wenger will watch the Newcastle hitman, 27, play for England B against Albania on Friday, it reports.

Why bother? Surely Wenger should have a rough idea of how Owen plays by now. And he's not going to learn much more in a match involving the second-best team of Albania, is he?

Mind, it might have something to do with the news that Bayern Munich 'have targeted Arsenal's Robin van Persie for a shock Â£8million summer switch.

The German giants have seemingly missed out on Chelsea's Arjen Robben, who looks set to sign a new five-year deal at Stamford Bridge, but according to the Daily Mirror they're now content to turn their attention to the Arsenal man.

Wenger is understood to be unwilling to sell but Bayern are able to make a very tempting offer to both club and player.
