I never thought of Brady as a dink-and-dunker, so I don't really get the "he doesn't fit into the offense" complaint. And if they are, it's hard to imagine the Pats being set in their ways after bringing in such an incredible athlete. If you bring in a player of his caliber, you adjust the system to utilize his talents, not vice versa. They did the same thing with Dillon. Before Dillon, they were pretty mich a passing team. Then they brought in an extremely talented RB, and they chose to utilize his strengths. Evidence: Their total pass attempts decreased 10% in Dillon's first year, and their total rushing attempts increased 10%. As a team, they rushed for over 500 more yards with Dillon than a year earlier. They went from 27th in the NFL in rushing to 7th. They went from 8th in passing to 13th. So, the Patriots obviously have no problem adjusting their system to a star player with attitude problems. Moss will come in, he will be playing for a winning team with an excellent QB, and he will have nothing to bitch and whine about. Also, Moroney is a beast. I actually think it's a blessing that Dillon is gone, because Dillon got really old and fat, and wasnt nearly as effective as before. Moroney, on the other hand, looks like a fabulously talented guy.

(of course I do) The Patriots didnt go to the Superbowl for 2 reasons last year. 1. They couldnt stop tight ends and slot recievers up the middle. Adalius Thomas takes care of that issue. 2. Reche "Ricochet" Caldwell dropped a 3rd and 4 that if it was a bullet, he would have been shot in between the numbers. People hating on this deal really makes me happy. It proves to me that people are really reaching for things to pick on for the Pats. At the end of the day the Patriots gave up next to nothing as they already had plenty of draft picks (even got SF's 4th rounder back in the 1st round pick deal) and got Moss to restructure. Now Moss has gotten himself stuck between a rock and a hardplace if he acts up. Considering now that he has restructured his deal, he can easily be released and secondly, if he is dumped by the Patriots it will scream to the rest of the league that he can't get along with anyone and he will have a tough time finding a job. I reckon Moss won't finish his career with the Pats by any means, but you have to be either kidding yourself or you just hate that they aren't your team. This is the BEST RUN FRANCHISE IN ALL OF SPORTS !!!!! Honestly............the negative comments just reak of Patriot Haterade. But I used to hate Dallas and San Fran in the 90's, so I guess I know how you all must feel now. *contains excitement*

It is as simple as this; pass the ball like Moss wants it, and he will catch the ball. I just hope that New England will listen to Moss.

Rep Power: 14 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Randy Moss Traded To New England For Fourth Round Draft Pick what I find funny about this trade is that Moss went for a fourth rounder of all things, a big name player who can play with the best of them when he wants...goes for a fourth round pick? We'll the raiders really got screwed in that deal (They could have gotten him for alot more on the first day imo). The one plus that I think alot of people are ignoring the fact that now Jamarcus Russell has been given alot of room to grow on his own. Without Moss in the line up, he dosn't have that preasure of thinking he has to pass to the star reciver to make him happy. As a rookie that could have been a make or break situation atleast in my eyes. Now Russell can play the feild like he sees it and hopefully carry over his talent from College to be an effective QB. Not that the Raiders are going to the bowl right away or anything, I just think its the best possible situation for him that people arnt really looking at in the trade.

They probably just wanted him gone ASAP...wash their hands of him and move on. Also, I need to respectfully disagree with DD on one thing that he said. The reason the Patriots didn't win the last few years was because the front office bought into their own hype, and thought they could get by with letting talented players go (Branch, Mcginest, Vinatieri) and just plugging in whoever they want, and they would win, right? After all, all you need is Brady and Belichick, right? Wrong...the overall talent level dropped, and the Patriots weren't quite as good. So they weren't as successful. Now, the Patriots are bringing in talented players again (Moss, Adalius Thomas), who will probably combine with the talents of Brady and Belichick, making the Patriots a superior team once again.

Brady already throws for more yardage then pretty much every QB out there. The passing game wasn't a weakness. The weakness is that they can't and still will not be able to stop Manning with the players they have in the defensive backfield.

I will agree to some level about the letting of players go, but I will try to back it up with their thinking...... McGinest has proven he was on the back 9, but still wanted to be paid like a full time productive player. (Prey tell, what exactly did he do in Cleveland this past year?) Vinateri was a tough loss for Pats fans, but the fact of the matter is he was the highest paid kicker in the league for some 4 years. How much are we supposed to pay a kicker? Don't you think he was overpaid? The Colts gave him a 5 year, 12 million dollar contract. Branch was a holdout working off his rookie contract. Essentially he wanted his rookie deal to be ripped up, and to be given a new contract for 6 years. That would have set a HORRIBLE pressedint (how the heck do you spell that?) Not to mention the fact that the Pats picked up a first round draft pick for him, and then turned around and got a much better reciever for a 4th round pick. Who is better? Branch or Moss?

It doesn't matter what receivers he has, unless Oakland do something with that O Line, JaMarcus is gonna spend a lot of time on his ass staring at the lights. |

So, they weren't exactly an elite passing offense... And DD, I understand the reasons for the moves that the Patriots made...I was talking about more of the team's mentality. The whole "We have Belichick and Brady, that's all we need" mantra. OK, fine, they let McGinest, Vinatieri, and Branch go because they all wanted more money than the Pats thought they were worth. That's fine...but the problem was that the people they replaced them with were much much less talented, so the team suffered as a result. They thought they could take scrubs and turn them into stars, and it just didn't work...it works sometimes, but not often enough to justify the loss of talent. To the Patriots credit, this year they realized the error of their ways and reversed course. They are once again paying for talent, and will probably reap the rewards

Rep Power: 12 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Randy Moss Traded To New England For Fourth Round Draft Pick I honestly think that having this many big recievers in the system... especially with one named Moss, there will be some issues with not gettingenough looks as usual. But Bellicek may be able to straighten him out.... we'll just have to see. But keep in mind passing alone won't get you a championship and there will be some very strong D's in their way... one of them being Denver's pass Defense which was basically built to face Peyton Manning... and I think that Brady will have issues with them if they meet in the post season.
