Newspaper reports claimed the FA's International Committee wanted to speak to McClaren after Wednesday's Euro 2008 qualifier against Andorra in Barcelona.
A statement from the FA said: "It is very disappointing to see reports that we have or will 'summon' Steve. At a time when we are giving our full support to Steve and the England team, these stories are very unhelpful."
The statement continued: "Steve, as normal, will attend the next international committee meeting as he and every England manager always has. There is nothing out of the ordinary with this, it is routine. We have been with the squad throughout the past week and it is obvious to us just how hard Steve and his coaching staff are working to get results. We would once again like to offer our full support to Steve and the team."
So what are your thoughts on Mr McClaren? Is he the man to lead England into the European Championships next year and beyond, so have the FA made a massive stuff up and appointed the wrong man?
I never want the dull Eriksson wannabe to be England manager, he plays Phil Neville at right back when Richards is on the bench, has a center back at left back, a world class centre midfielderon the right winger while having a right winger on the left wing and he doesnt have the balls to drop Lampard or Gerrard, he seems tobe picking the best 11 players and just making a team out of them rather thatn picking the best team

You think you have it bad?
Our manager played a right back at left back and a left back at right back. A central mid on the wing. A winger up front.
Kilbane, who cant even get a game at Wigan has started the last 42 matches in a row. Robbie Keane hasent done anything since his 93rd minute eaquilazer goal against Germany in 2002 World Cup.
All the while Stokes, Hunt and Doyle got less than 30 minutes conbined against Wales.
Count yourself lucky.

Differance is you won. lol. Some of Stanno's decisions were a bit baffeling. At the moment the Republic look a shadow of the side that was at the World Cup in 2002.
And Crocker, if you don't like McClaren, who do you think should be the England manager?
We may have won but we didnt deserve to, either did Wales though. Both sides were very poor, i nearly fell asleep watching it. But against San Marino because of his choices adn the performance we deserved to lose and San Marino deserved to win, thats saying a lot considering SM hadent scored in near ten years!!
If England dont beat Andorra by a few goals then id say Steve Mc better invest in some neck armour as the axe is being sharpened.
Steve Copell i think could do a good job as he wouldent be afraid to drop Lampard or Gerrard. And he would keep the players down to earth as every world cup/euro chamionships they seem to float off and think they should win on player name alone.

Jesus if that was the same San Marino as I watched last night you must have been dead men walking to deserve to lose to them!! lol
Back to the original point of the thread, I don't think McClaren helped himself what so ever last night with his press conferance to the writen media by just walking in and saying... "Gentlemen, if you want to write whatever you want to write, you can write it because that is all I am going to say. Thank you." As much as he hates it, he needs the media, especially the written media on his side. These days they're the ones who decide if an England manager stays or goes.
