Well, yesterday he homered off Josh Towers, possibly the worst starting pitcher in the history of man.

(I actually like Towers and I hope he rebounds, but he came very close to setting records with his shit-poor ERA last year.)

King Felix was pretty fucking disgusting yesterday. Dice-K wasn't terrible in his Fenway debut (7 IP, 3 ER), but that game belonged to Hernandez

Re: MLB Off and Season Discussion Thread

Okay, so does anyone think the Yankees are "dead" yet? lol. I just laugh because most of the sports talk I get is out of either NY or Boston and the complete lack of respect for the Yanks is amazing.

I hate them more then anyone you know. Scratch that, maybe not anyone, but I do hate them. I know they aren't dead. A few key injuries, they'll be fine when everyone is healthy and if they still struggle they'll just pick up someone else. Clemens anyone?

Listen, we have this discussion every year. Mariano is dead. A-Rod isn't clutch (which this year he has been out of this world) etc.. etc..

They'll be in the mix.

Re: MLB Off and Season Discussion Thread

EVERY year, they Yankees go through a rought stretch and people write them off, and then they end up winning the division. Two years ago they started out 11-19 and they still came back to win the division.

That's the beauty of a 162-game season...the good teams win out in the end, and these rought stretches mean little in the long run.

I've mentioned Pythagorean W-L% before...it's used to estimate a team's winning percentage based on their runs scored and runs allowed. Over the course of a 162-game season, this tends to approximate a team's actual winning percentage pretty closely. So, a team that has a worse record than they're Pythagorean W-L% has been unlucky, and a team that has done better, has probably benefited from luck. But over the course of the season, the luck usually evens out

The Yankees are 8-11. They're Pyth W-L record is 11-8. They'll be fine, as long as they keep scoring runs like crazy, which is not a stretch of the imagination with that lineup

Everybody in the NY media is a fucking moron, by the way.

Re: MLB Off and Season Discussion Thread

I agree with you and with that said, it's pretty clear to me already who will represent two of the slots in the AL playoffs. You guessed it, Yanks and Sox.

I mean, fuck the AL central. Twins, ChiSox, Tigers, Indians.. none of those teams are going to be able to compete with the Sox and Yanks for the Wild card .There's no way. Even if the Jays have a good year, the D-Rays and O's will most likely suck just enough for the Sox/Yanks to run through them (which is funny, because the D-Rays in reality gave the Yanks a lot of trouble last year but I don't see it happening again).

Angels out west.
