I just seen it on NFL Live. So far I haven't been able to find an article on it, they just said the Ravens have released him. He could be a nice pick-up for say, maybe the Broncos?
He'll get picked up, but my guess is he won't be terribly effective...I'm picturing an Eddie George type situation here. Team's star running back is slowed by injury and age, team realizes this and cuts the strings, he thinks he can still play, goes to a team desperate for a RB, and he averages 3.0 yards per carry.
I dont wish any ill will on him, but thats what I can see happening

He's obviously got loads of wear and tear on him, but does anyone else find it crazy that Jamal Lewis is actually YOUNGER than LaDainian Tomlinson, and only a few months older than Larry Johnson?
I wonder if maybe his little stint in jail a few years ago contributed to his decline in production. I imagine it did...

The Ravens will re-sign Jamal. Bottom line is they don't want him to go somewhere else where they will have to tackle him. He played much better later in the season, and if the Ravens had not panicked against the Colts,he would have got his yards. Jamal is a punishing back . I hope the Ravens retain him and get a legit scatback.

I imagine it's mostly to do with his bruising running style, the fact that he's been an NFL workhorse since age 21, the ACL he tore after his rookie season, and the 2000-yard rushing season. But you're right, his production dovetailed after the jail stint.
There was only that one year that I think about when I think about Jamal Lewis. I mean other then that, I don't have the stats in front of me, but what has he done?
He's always been a 2nd tier guy in my eyes, except for the one crazy year.

Well, he rushed for 1300+ yards in his first two seasons (first and third actually; the second was wiped out by the ACL), and rushed for 100+ yards in a Super Bowl victory.
He hasn't been the same back since 2003, when he just pounded the fuck out of the entire NFL. He set the single-game rushing record that year, too.
AS much as I love the Broncos I don't know that his style of running would fit the system perfectly. I think with the zone blocking scheme you are better suited for someone who has the explosive cut potential over brute strength... That's why Terrell Davis was a monster in Den.
