| Manager of the year? Well the season is nearing its end, with only 10 to 12 games left for each team to play. Who for you has been the best manager this year? For me, it has to be Steve Copell. The job he has done at Reading is nothing short of amazing. Last Season they were playing in the championship, this season they are in a UEFA Cup spot and not too far off the top 4. They got a draw against Man Utd in the FA Cup and have a replay on Tuesday then they play Arsenal on Saturday. Doesnt get much tougher than that but i doubt Reading will be too worried as Copell has installed selfbelief in them that they can win these games. We all know Wigan had a good season last year but for me reading have been much better than they were and i dont see them struggleing like Wigan this season. Other candidates for me would be Arsene Wenger, Alex Ferguson & Roy Keane. Who do you guys pick and why? | |||||||||||||||

| Re: Manager of the year? Harry Redknapp. Simple, one he has got players that were being wrote off as has-beens back to the top of there game, two he has got pompey from a beat the drop team to a UEFA cup team or nearly and three the fact his players respect him and never step out of line. Other that come to mind like darren are sir alex, copple and keanO. | ||||||||||||||

| Re: Manager of the year? Sir Steve Coppell for me, and for many more reasons beyond my own extreme personal bias and love for the man (in a non biblical way). To take a side that, at the beginning of the season (apart from John Oster who by no means is a first team definite) that had no players with any previous Premier experience and guide them to the top six and the possibility with 10 games to go of a place in Europe is quite unbelievable. Not only the above, but aside from Seol Ki Hyun(?) they didn't even buy anyone in the Summer to enhance the Championship winning squad, and on the opening day of the season lost last seasons highest scorer with an injury for the first four months of the season. To do all this, and to do it whilst playing a quality of football waaaaaaaaaaaaaay beyond many of the "multi millionaire, millions spending, always in mid-table in the prem never entertaining anyone" clubs is terrific stuff. | |||||||||||||||

| Re: Manager of the year? No stand-outs for me. Coppell has done well but not really outstanding for me. I am kind of thinking of Reading as over-performers and also am strongly reminded of Wigan. Moyes and Big Sam are the consistantly over-looked candidates for Manager of the Year doing big things with "small" teams. Redknapp has done well but has had the backing to do well. Fergie has re-built a sleeping giant that many adept followers would not have believed that Man U would have the type of gap they have on the premiership right now. Both Wenger and Rafa may be sat on the two best teams in the EPL "right now" but started so bad that their chances dissappeared with the teams Champions hopes. Realistically if Man U finish as champs Fergie deserves it. | ||||||||||||||
