| Question for US Sports Fans Who, in US Sport, do you personally consider to have been the biggest "traitor"? Be it in someone leaving your own team, someone elses, chasing more cash.....whatever. | |||||||||||||||

| Re: Question for US Sports Fans haha. It simply doesnt get used much anymore since it seems like everyone chases the money these days. But if I had to choose it would have to be Johnny Damon. (although if you ask me, the Sox lowballed him) Whenever someone goes from the Red Sox to the Yankees or vice versa a chill goes through the air and the cities get a little pissy at each other. But all in all, most are considered commodities now and not loyal members of said city | |||||||||||||||

| Re: Question for US Sports Fans Yea, I'd have to go with Damon too. Nothing else really sticks out in my mind from what I can remember. Or maybe Vinatieri too. | ||||||||||||||

| Re: Question for US Sports Fans Johnny Damon was the first one that popped into my mind, but I dont think he's high-profile enough to really be the absolute biggest sell out/traitor. I remember being really upset when Shaq left the Orlando Magic to go play for the Los Angeles Lakers. Like, they made an NBA finals, they had an awesome team with him, Penny Hardaway, Horace Grant, and some other guys whose names escape me at the moment (there was that guy who missed a bunch of free throws at the end of one playoff game...Nick something...), so that he could go to L.A. to support his blossoming movie career (Ha!). Terrell Owens was pretty ridiculous too. He bitched and moaned about how much he hated tyhe 49ers (the team that made him a star), and then when they traded him to Baltimore, he bitched and whined and moaned until the NFL rejected the trade, and they forced a trade to Philadelphia. The 49ers would have received a second-round draft pick from Baltimore, but instead, they only got a 5th-round pick. Then in Philadelphia, he publicly feuded with the team's most popular player, Donovan McNabb, and was such a major pain in the ass that the team told him to go home and never come back...he then signed with one of Philadelphia's division rivals, the Dallas Cowboys. So yeah, Terrell Owens is a gigantic scumbag. Also, Roger Clemens could be considering sort of a traitor. He let himself get fat and out of shape his last few years in Boston, pitched poorly, then left for Toronto, got back in shape, became the best pitcher in the league, then went to the Yankees (Boston's arch-nemesis), won 2 World Series, threw a high and tight pitch to Manny Ramirez that started a bench-clearing brawl (although the pitch wasnt even close to Manny's head), and was the starting pitcher for the "Aaron Boone game" (although he got rocked that game). So, I'll go with Clemens. | |||||||||||||||

| Re: Question for US Sports Fans Was his name perhaps Nick Harper? Anyways as for biggest traitor Roger Clemens' name jumps to mind. Telling the Yankees that he's done playing baseball, and quits on them only to resurface not long after playing for a different team. | ||||||||||||||

| Re: Question for US Sports Fans yeah...that was REALLY bad... For those who don't know what happened, this was the deal.... Carlos Boozer was a second round pick, so he had a really cheap contract...like almost the league minimum ($400,00 per year I think it was). Boozer had two really good years for the Cavs, and the Cavs had the option of keeping him at the same salary for the third year. So the Cavs came to an agreement with him: They said they would not exercise the option if Boozer agreed to sign a an extension with them for like $8 million a year. So, the Cavs let the option expire, under the assumption they would re-sign him shortly thereafter. However, he then signed with Utah for $11 million per year, turning his back on Cleveland, who could have easily kept him for $400,000. Now that, was a big scumbag move. | |||||||||||||||

| Re: Question for US Sports Fans by the way, i looked it up, it was Nick Anderson who played on the Magic... From wikipedia... After defeating the Indiana Pacers in seven games, the Magic began the NBA Finals at home, hosting the defending champion Houston Rockets. With the Magic up by three points late in the Game 1, Anderson missed four consecutive free throws, and Kenny Smith hit a three pointer, tying the game and sending it to overtime. The Rockets would go on to win in overtime and eventually sweep the Magic, winning their second consecutive NBA Championship. | |||||||||||||||
