| Chargers Hire Norv Turner as Head Coach Norv Turner got his third shot at an NFL head coaching job when he was hired Monday by the San Diego Chargers, a week after the surprise firing of Marty Schottenheimer. The hiring came less than 24 hours after the Chargers wrapped up their interviews. The Chargers also hired Ted Cottrell as defensive coordinator. Turner, the San Francisco 49ers' offensive coordinator, was the only one of the six candidates who's been an NFL head coach, and the only one from the offensive side of the ball. | |||||||||||||||

| Re: Chargers Hire Norv Turner as Head Coach Signing Turner is move that's up in the air because his past experiences as a coach are not good, his record and overall performance are horrible. But, him as a offensive coordinator is above average and good. So with the chargers offense and defense being so good, all he has to do is point him in the right direction and push 'em. No excuse for the team not being good because they are above average. Like I mentioned before, it can go either way here, but, I think he'll do alright but not what people expect. | ||||||||||||||

| Re: Chargers Hire Norv Turner as Head Coach Pisses me off as a Frank Gore fantasy owner, that's for sure. I just read that the Chargers are set to announce Ron Rivera, who was just let go by the Bears as defensive coordinator, will be the new linebackers coach in San Diego. It doesn't make a lot of sense, since he'll go from running that great 4-3 Bears defense to working under Ted Cottrell in a 3-4 package, but it gives Norv Turner a little less reason to worry about the defensive side of the ball. Could we see LaDainian Tomlinson touch the ball 500 times next year? | |||||||||||||||
