According to the Associated Press, "Cliff Floyd and the Chicago Cubs are nearing agreement on a one-year contract, a deal that may include an option for 2008 that the outfielder can control." Floyd was injured last year, but he's a career .279 hitter and, more importantly, he's a left-handed bat. I think it'd be a good idea for the Cubbies to sign him. What do you guys think?
He good in the Outfield, has Power, and hits for decent average.
Liek you said hes was hurt last season, sucks to see him leave NY but we got ALou whos another Ageless wonder from Dominican Republic(Julio Franco).
He should Provide the Cubs something they dont have, a good vet.

I say why not, and as long as they don't pay him too much its a good idea. It's like the Eric Gagne and Keith Foulke signings, if he's healthy he'll do good for you, if he's hurt, he'll do nothing...

ya, he will do good if he's not hurt, but it won't hurt the Cubs too much if he is, now they have a great outfield with 4 starting quality players out there....they will contend for sure this year
Today the two agreed on a one year deal with a mutual option for 2008.
Floyd is a Chicago native and I'm glad he was able to join the Cubs. He was nothing but a professional for the Mets and I do think I'll miss him a bit as a player.
